He had some physical troubles couple of years ago when he had risen to top 300 and fell back till he did not even have a ranking anymore for a couple of years. Now he is steadily rising again, albeit a bit slow. Until now of course. A win will bring him close to the top 100

@@benparsons4979 I think he meant visually, Tsitsipas' one is effective (altough very loopy and at times unstable) , but he reached number 5 for other reasons, mainly his great movement and court coverage and the ability to strike the ball early and step into the court eating away time from the opponent.. Tim's is just pleasant to see, more old fashioned but I definitely dont think it's better than Tsitsipas', just easier on the eyes

Dutch tennis improved a lot in the past few years, like Zandschulp, Griekspoor and now this guy Rijthoven is coming to the top100. 3 male dutch players in the top100 its very great from this small country. Edit : they have 1 other player De Jong in the top200 and have Brouwer (currently top 300 almost top200) who won few matches in Houston in April.

Yes I’m very happy that all our players have rosen this year. Seeing Robin Haase loose in first rounds in Kazachstan was getting pretty painfull.

@@vincehawk meh… Rijthoven is very flawed, if it wasnt for his big serve i havent seen anything to be amazed at in his game… Auger was very weak committing lots of enforced errors throughout the match.. its just that the competition wasnt there, even Gaston played very weak against Rijthoven, its just lucky circumstances that allowed for the dutch to reach the finals but with all that being said i love the Netherlands and it is very nice to see some dutch dudes getting into the spotlight, but if anything, the new generation lacks maturity in the game of tennis.. its not just the dutch of course, its the new 20-25 olders who aren’t impressing me one bit

Love this camera angle and quality of the picture. Stuttgart video makers should take notes. Van Rijthoven is a big surprise, never heard of him before. Great backhand and slice. Medvedev looks really good as well, should be an interesting final.

Low tension racket after injury, provides more power but less control, he has very good hands, touch, to play like that.

yeah it's amazing, but he also strings his racket incredibly low tension. If you watch carefully the ball floats a lot on its own and if he hits slighty less delicate the ball goes way deep in the court. This kind of low tension gives a lot of power but I think it's so hard to control, he must have great touch

Its like watching and old man. Extremely short and slow strokes using a very low tension racquet to generate easy power. His game is extremely boring. He should focus on challengers so that he never shows up on tv.

Wow van Rijthoven, what a fairytale. He is 25 just like the other Dutchies Griekspoor and Van de Zandschulp who broke top 60 this year. They were all ranked 100-300 for years. Fascinating how small the difference is between 20-100 and 100-300. When something clicks, suddenly you make your breakthrough. Karatsev was another late bloomer. It's only ATP 250: if he doesn't win the final he will jump from 205 to 140. If he wins.... idk 110? will still have to play qualification in Wimbledon

Lovely Federer-esque backhand 😍

Medvedev likes rallying and is never in a hurry to end the point. He manages to be consistent in spite of his lanky build and extra motion on his forehand. Mannarino is a good grass court player.

Unpopular opinion: Mannarino is interesting player to watch on grass. At least for me.

Yeah, he's always interesting with some of the best hands in the game. He kinda flies under the radar, but he's also got a strong peak in his game when he's on. He can trouble the best when that happens

I don't know Mannarino at all, but he has a very pleasing hitting style. His shots look like he's coaching a youngster and not trying to hit the ball too hard; that look of effortlessness is always the sign of a quality competitor.

Medvedev in the final of a grass court tournament…. Wimbledon is not going to be as competitive as if Russian players were there

The Dutch are having a bit of a resurgence on the ATP Tour, Van De Zandschulp and Griekspoor were starting to make strides last year and this year, now hopefully Van Rijthoven can join his fellow Dutchmen. Although on Griekspoor he really needs to pick up some points on the Tour before all those challenger wins drop off, genuinely a very good player that's close to putting it together.

Van Rijthoven has a very good backhand and forehand form, he may just need a bit more speed in his game to push up his rankings

If I'm completely honest here, I think Medvedev is going to struggle against van Rijthoven, he doesn't look necessarily in the best shape for grass yet and is really having trouble taking the 1st set easily, definitely not playing like how he did in the Hard-Court Season. The fact that van Rijthoven looks in good shape, and defeated Felix, Taylor and many more in a somewhat of a decent way, it's going to be interesting to watch this final fold-out.

Mannarino is still very much a strong threat. Good game

That's why I would forbid grass and clay. Nothing is better than a clean perfectly flat hardcourt, with no wind or sun to disturb players while playing/serving.

@@robinsoncruise2228 random bounces are all but tennis. Also, slipping every second point can cause terrible injuries. Hardcourts are the only ones to provide a consistent surface. Just watch how the central court looks like at Wimbledon the last days of the tournament, there is absolutely no more grass on the baseline ( It makes the court ugly, and inconsistent for bounces and movements, which sucks very much ).

Interesting how technically weak Mannarinno's forehand is and that he can sustain in the ATP league with this shot since the rest of the game is not spectacular either.
