After having listened to this twice and the next one of knight (not my usual listener) - I think that this is realisation on Clare’s end she does like the ranger, and ranger gets their memories back and we learn about which vampire took their memories and why (the head-canon I had was after the ranger had a bad hospital experience which lead them down alternative wellness where they met the vampire) and this is were everything heats up by a lot- plus the reason why Claire didn’t take them straight to the hospital is partly to help ranger and partly due to the whole supernatural stuff that went down to protect the secret/personal safety
