These past 2.5 years I've spent with Hololive have made me realize that they've been the cure for my loneliness. Yeah, I've got cats and chit chat with people at work, but real friends become fewer and farther between as you grow older, and I only get to see family on occasional weekend. Being stuck alone, in silence, in the dark, for a decent length of time, would be really rough, not because of some internet addiction, but because of the isolation. If that's you too, hopefully these comments help.

I've always felt that the expression "deafening silence" is very spot on in cases like these. When everything is just silent, quiet and all that you "hear" is the things in your own mind. Hoping your power comes back soon!

I selfishly hope this becomes a series of videos, just Shinri rambling (not the power outage). So I can have a place to be when I just need a safe quite space to be in. Some might ask wouldn't quite mean not watching anything and turning off everything, to that I'll say, it's much too loud in my head when there is absolute silence

I mean I know you said you wanted a break but this is crazy Honestly though I can't complain, you still went and uploaded for us regardless of the fact that you have no power and that shows your dedication Anyways though, we love you Dad. I hope you're enjoying yourself(?) (Honestly I don't know how I'd enjoy myself without the fact that I don't have electricity, I'd go insane within a couple of hours honestly) 15:40 OH MY GOD I THOUGHT ME AND MY SIBLINGS WERE THE ONLY ONES WHO THOUGHT WE HAD POWERS AND MADE THEM UP WHILE WE WERE YOUNGER!! I've always been a massive fan of Ice and have always thought of myself having Ice Powers so this honestly really sticks out to me as something that I did while I was younger

Hoping you are staying safe and warm during all of this. The weather has been both frustrating and scary, and you've had to deal without power for a long time. The power went out at my work the other day (thankfully only for about an hour and a half), but I was at a loss of what to do. So many of us just sat around wondering if we would be allowed to go home. We listened to the angry winds in the dark because going outside was too dangerous. The windows and doors rattled as if we worked in a haunted house. All the constant hums and whirs were absent. Time stretched long. The power outage managed to transform a familiar place into someplace different. Just writing it all out makes for a scene that would almost fit the start of a horror game. Hang in there, Shinri! Know that you are missed, and we are waiting for your return with wide open fins. 💛

Thank you for sharing what’s on your mind, as hard as it may be to verbalize it. Being in the dark didn’t use to be this lonely and scary, but now that we all build relationships online it feels like we’re being stripped of our connections and our very much needed interactions with others. Even if our interactions are simply watching others and not sharing much ourselves. We get so used to the white noise electricity provides that silence feels alien, scary, aggressive, like it’s trapping you in a void where you can’t do anything (which is particularly scary because it’s partly true). I know the feelings of nostalgia come flooding in when we’re this vulnerable and it’s ok to let yourself feel them. We’re usually too busy or too online to actually properly sit and give ourselves the chance to reconnect with warm memories (as sad as they might make us feel through the nostalgia lens). Huge fucking paragraph to say a whole load of nothing, but I hope you’re well rested, wearing the comfiest socks, wrapped in the softest blanket and getting some good sleep. Hope that the power comes back soon and your appliances are all okay as well✨💕

Hello Shinri, I hope you are still staying safe and sane lol. I went through your situation a couple of years ago. Didn't have power or water for 5 days. The silence was kind of nice to me. It was great for reading and just general reflection on how my life was going. I ended doing chores too. For nostalgia, I used to play outside mostly as a child. I think we are around the same age and there wasn't really internet usage like now. I played imagitive games too, mostly pretending to be Powerpuff girls lol. That's my most vivid memory with my friends at the time.

The human mind and it’s memories are so fascinating. During your rambles, I felt my own memories getting stirred up like sediment from the bottom of a pond. I relate so hard to feeling awful when it feels like I didn’t make the most of my day. It’ll be ok Shinri. In the meantime try to take care of yourself. Silence can be good to introspect even if it feels unsettling.

This reminds me of a time close to 20 years ago at my family's old place, when a huge blackout hit our neighborhood and the surrounding area. We went outside to get a grasp on what was going on, and noticed that everyone else was doing the exact same thing, so everyone was just kind of meandering around outside with nothing to do. Hope you get power back soon, man. Stay strong.

darkness, while it can comforting at times, can really make your mind run when you're alone for an extended period. and it's not just the darkness that does it; it's the loneliness, the feeling of isolation, the memories and nostalgia that came thru when we're alone sitting on our lonesome. I hope you're doing okay, Shinri, even on your own, because we'll be here waiting for you to stream again no matter how long it takes. and no, we won't forget you. just know that you're constantly loved and wanted, and we'll still be here waiting for you.

your voice and the occasional writing was very soothing to listen to! but also.. i felt a little sad when reaching towards the end of the video. the mention of thinking about the olden days had me deep in my thoughts when you started talking about kids pretending they had superpowers or were some character they made up… i was one of those kids growing up. and i would play for hours and hours with my family members, pretending to be a character i made for myself. i miss those days dearly as well, but it has shaped me to who i am creatively for today! and i hope you’re taking care of yourself just as much Shinri.. i’ll admit, you had me crying a little bit at the end LOL this video felt like a log of a long lost friend that you can’t help but to play over and over again to hear the last recordings of their voice.. but like you have told us, please remember to take care of yourself. we also miss you and we are patiently waiting for your safe return. 💛🫂 koi-yasumi, and thank you for your wonderful thoughts~ 🎏

We'll have time together soon. I know the Silence can get you thinking about a lot of things in your head. It's amazing how much sounds can get us distracted until the quiet gets to you. Happy you got something to keep you busy while this is happening. May you stay comfy and safe. We're all here for you no matter what. I hope you know that. As for what I used to do that was weird and silly as a kid. I used to pretend be a puppy with my dogs and get inside their dog house. I felt safer being around my animals than being with people back then since I was super shy. Now I feel more open I can be a fish with you and the chat. It's super fun and silly, and I hope our silliness makes you smile. You make us smile a lot. But know that even for us, we love to make you smile and laugh too. We love you, and we'll catch up on a lot from each other soon.

This upload reminds me of the times the power went out and I would ramble with whoever I was with-cousins, a friend, grandma, parents, younger sibling. It was like going back in time to experience something that people have done naturally less than a century ago, but we do less often because everyone goes off and does their own thing. However, with no power, there are no distractions; just talking and getting to know each better, and really focusing on what someone had to say. Sitting in the dark with a mix of anxiety from waiting for the power to come back on and comfort from being there with another person. Thank you Shinri for the bit of comfort while getting ready for work. I hope things get better for you soon.

Thanks for sharing this with us Shinri! We used to get lots of blackouts where I lived but they usually were resolved once the thunderstorms were over. Only the storm really was a comfort as otherwise there was nothing to do much. It must be so frustrating not to be able to go about your plans as you would have liked to but I hope recording this and journaling helped ease your mind even a little bit. Sending you the best of wishes, Shinri!

As someone who struggles to remember things, my brain always has like a particular way of choosing stuff to remember. But I know it always ends up being something visually impactful in some way for me personally. With blackouts I end up having a few different times where I was stuck in a similar situation. But one in particular hits most for me. Between a childhood friend and I. IT was a pretty traumatic and scary day. But the most memorable part I can't seem to forget was being in her room, bundled up in blankets with her. A few lit candles on the windowsill with them reflecting off of the window. She and I had this digital camera which was pretty new at the time for us. You can take pictures and record your own voices over those pictures, and we would goof around using the flash and dubbing stuff over the images we took of each other and her dog that was in the room. I dont remember much else that night. I just have the faintest sound of our laughter in the quiet night together. I do miss those days. Just thought of sharing a fond memory that came to mind thanks to this.

Stay safe and take care Shinri, Sending you comfy vibes as you spend the night. Even when we're all far apart, across the miles of lands and oceans, we're all connected in one way or another... with the way that universe is, I believe even in that distant future or beyond the realm, even as souls on the other side of the world, we'd all get to meet at a point in time. While we may seem like strangers, over the past weeks, we'd have founded a bond with the time spent together, and as with every interaction that were made. One which made this community comfortable and cozy. Write the thoughts down, for it shall be the reflection of your thoughts and soul. Yes, your very own. Let it flow as you write, for it'd remind you of the moments which you've spent. The memories shall stay, as endlessly as time goes, like the days we have spent together, have them kept deep down in the unconsciousness, recorded onto the very soul, like a memory lane for the future generations to come. Know that, you're not alone, despite the quietest time spent. Let yourself rest and recover, return as re-energized as you'd hope it to be. We'll be waiting patiently for your return. Signing out, Astra

It's so strange how loud the silence can be. I used to live in a terrible building in an unsavory neighborhood in a big city, and I could (almost always) sleep through all the loud traffic and sirens from the street, my arguing neighbors, kids running around the hallway, even the construction from down stairs. But now I live in a tiny, quiet neighborhood, and the silence is too much sometimes. I can hear a washing machine rumbling in the distance, trains from miles away. In the morning, I get startled by bees flying by my window, or the crows and squirrels digging in my neighbor's gutter. Everything is so quiet that I can hear everything. There's even a cute bird that snores in a tree when I go to throw out the trash, but I'm not used to this type of quiet. I hope that you get to hear some nice animals (and not get startled) while it's still quiet, but hopefully the power comes back soon!

i dont know how to describe it, but this video reminds me of the kind of lore drops you get from audio recordings in games (in the best way possible). i know that lonely feeling you described well. even with my cat to keep me company, there was a good stretch of time where i would often go days without speaking just bc i felt i had no reason to do. but believe me, you're doing incredible. your videos are always a great source of comfort for me, and i know im not the only one who thinks this way. you have such a wonderful way of making anything sound interesting because of the way you break things down in such specifics, and it reminds me of the way my friends and I speak about stuff! and if this became a series of just audio ramblings, i absolutely wouldn't mind. its very soothing in its own way. almost meditative?

Honestly, I find the low hum of the currents in my house a bit distracting. When it's otherwise quiet all around me, that sound in particular gets louder to my ears; I can even hear it while listening to you now. There's something charming about a train of thought formed in absolute silence. I haven't "heard" it in quite some time, so thanks for letting me experience it vicariously through your ramblings. It was nice. Props for getting this uploaded, and take care while the power's out.

Gosh, Shinri, big hugs and /sits with. The kind of silence a power outage brings is so...surreal and off-putting honestly. Never realize how much noise there is in your surroundings until that happens. And man, I know that frustration of having your time wasted because of a power failure all too well, and it's so hard not to dwell on the fact that so much of x could've been done. When I was thinking more about the phrase "stillness in the air," it made me think about how sound travels in waves that move through a medium (in this case air). In the case of silence, the air is undisturbed by those waves and therefore is 'still.' I don't think that's where the phrase comes from but it's cool to think about it like that. Anyhow, I hope you know that the koillective are waiting patiently for you whenever this power outage situation is fixed. I hope tomorrow is kinder to you and please get some rest

Shinri Society likes to put a lot of emphasis on productivity. It likes to tell us that what we produce gives us value. That’s a lie. Your worth isn’t dictated by what you produce. It took me so long to get over that feeling. But once you do, it’s a wonderful, relaxing feeling. You can take a breath finally. You’ll get there. Just keep being that amazing person that you are 💛 Keep letting your passions dictate your direction (within reason, and with moderation) and they will lead you to happiness. I have a memory too. I have a lot of memories, actually. But when you were talking, it reminded me of, probably, the first indication that I suffered from depression. It was elementary school. Even back then I was bullied and abandoned by my peers. So I spent a lot of my time at recess with the teachers on duty, or alone in a corner somewhere. This day, I was having a rough brain day. Mulling over how nobody cared about me at school. I was sitting with my back against a brick pillar looking out at the playground. And then, I don’t know why, but right then and there I decided that no matter how tough things got, I would smile. I remember that very vividly. In my brain I liked the idea of this though girl who always put on a smile no matter what with a broken past. While my current self wants to throw so many red flags at my last little self, I believe that also to be what leads me to be so kind. Nothing compares to the pain of thinking that you’re the worst kind of person just for being who you are. Now *I’m* rambling. I often wish there was a way to instantly transfer thoughts. I think in pictures and feelings. I have no inner dialogue. So I stutter a lot and it takes me a while to get what I want to say out. So I’m also pretty quiet irl too (That’s why I like typing best; I love the delete button and the fact that I can edit and organize thoughts). There is nothing wrong with being quiet and doing nothing. Sometimes I go outside just to be; just to sit with myself and my senses. It’s a great practice! I encourage everyone, and you, to try it. Be well Shinri. Stretch, hydrate, and touch grass. 💛 Your awesome 🫶💛

As a kid, I remember staring into candle fire whenever there was a power outage. When I got bored of pacing the house, I would just sit on the floor and look at how the lights flicker from a safe distance. Once I tried roasting marshmallows over one, and ended up reminiscing about the time I went camping with my cousins.

It is frustrating to feel like you're wasting time when we have things to do, the helplessness we feel when things just do not go as planned or as we thought. Talking is hard and I'm glad that you can ramble to us koipanions, taking us back to reminisce the good 'ol days. I remember when I was a kid light out were pretty common in my neighborhood. We'll put candles around the house and open the doors and windows. I remember it was night but I saw the sky was not dark and it somehow fascinated me that the sky looks brighter than when there's no lights up. And that makes me appreciate the lights out a bit because I would never seen that scenery otherwise. Sorry for rambling myself. Hope you and other koipanions all stay safe and warm. Glad to hear from you, Shinri.

Thank you and stay safe Shinri!!! What a coincidence that its a heavy rain right now at my place and I have a pretty bad situation with thunder and heavy rain. Hearing your voice is really soothing and make me calm down considering I left alone in my house (mother out of the city). Once again thank you and stay safe. Hopefully the power comes back real soon. 🌹🌹

Didn't expect this. Was very enjoyable to hear your thoughts, unfiltered by the day-to-day... it's very interesting, as you mentioned, to listen to one's thoughts in pure silence. It's something that we in the West have forgotten, I think; perhaps the power outage has been a blessing in disguise for you? Still, I hope that, for the sake of your health and safety, it comes back soon. Have a good night, and be blessed!

in the beginning, you were talking about how you tend to have not much to say and you're quiet and yet... I could really listen to you ramble all day. also the sounds of your scribbling tskr. it's such an interesting kind of quiet tho when the power is out too like... when it snows real heavy and the snow is soft and things get really quiet, it's not the same as when the power is out. but I guess all silences have their own things to say. thank you for sharing your thoughts with us Shinri, not just now but always, I will never get tired of listening to them.

I just wanted to say thank you for this video shinri. for all of them as well, of course, but this one in particular… i don’t know what it is about it, but it has been a huge source of comfort for me. i have struggled with sleep my whole life and with work it can really affect my overall mental health if i don’t get enough rest, and i find that listening to this video if I’m having a rough night always calms me down for sleep. i’ve listened to it quite a few times now, and i write this with it paused as i am using it to help me work through an anxious night so i can sleep. so just.. thanks.

Finally had time to listen to this and I wanted to thank you for posting it! Even if it's just ramblings, what you talked about either hits home or is relatable, like reminiscing on the good old times (maybe cause I'm so close to my 30's). If you get to read this, could you consider uploading more similar videos? These types of talks make for perfect company to work or just fight the silence too. I wish you have a better end of the week and that the start of the next is a greater one, take care!

Can I just say how much I loved this. The comfort and peace and nostalgia all mixed into a little 25minute audio podcast. Being able to take a step from my current reality and be engulfed by your thoughts and letting you guide my encey brain into different parts of life. Although I'm sorry for your predicament and I hope your power resolves soon. I wonder if you would make more content like this?? Its like taking a mental journey with you as the guide. And it was so soothing and interesting. I'm wishing you some speed in resolving your predicament. Hoping you're not too engulfed by quietness. And looking forward to hear from you again ❤

Man… Why is this so dark? I mean, no thumbnail, no electricity for you, reminiscing about the past..then suddenly I laughed at your stomach growl lol Hang in there just one more day, Shinri! You will be back on stream tomorrow Yes, journaling is good for mental health. Sometimes the voices inside your head are awful, and if you keep them bottled up for a long time, it’s not healthy, so I’m glad you decided to start writing a journal. Please don't blame yourself for things that are inevitable, it's not your fault. Be safe out there! See you tomorrow 💛💛💛

Silence has a way of bringing out ourselves and our thoughts and sometimes that can be very jarring. I can only imagine how it must be hard to keep the demons away when they can be as loud as they want and there's nothing to muffle their sounds. It's no wonder everyone have to put something to play at all times, be it music or videos or series (I am guilty of that too). I wonder how our ancestors dealed with the constant silence? Maybe that's why they created so many folk songs and stories to keep their minds busy? Maybe we're not so different after all, we just have a lot more dopamine fixes than they did lmao. Anyway, please take care, Shinri. Sleep as much as you can while the power is out and eat well if possible. We all want you safe and healthy, and we know you can't control anything that's happening and that's okay. Maybe this is the universe holding you by the neck and saying SLOW DOWN lol but take care! We love you very much, thank you for this little treat
