i work on car lots as a interior repairman and i kinda laugh at these keys. most people find if something is heavy it oozes quality, well these audi keys are quite weighty, BUT if you take the silver key end off it weighs nothing. so i just found it funny how they play to a humans psychology.

I love Audi, in fact mine is A4 2011, but I thought it is a bit of a daft idea to keep the key in your pocket when getting into the car, since it will be very difficult to get it out of your freaking pocket when you are seated, yet someone in Audi managed to get such a not so useful idea in.

Why would you want to get the key out of your pocket? You can keep the key in your pocket, to start the car just hit the Start/Stop button.

Idk I think you are just supposed to hold the key in your hand, do the gesture, then the car is unlocked. Enter the car, with keys in hand, and start the engine. You can keep it in your pocket and do the gesture, but youd be a cornball like the chick in this video.

Nope. It can be turned off with the key even if it was started with the button. And vice versa.

I have this same model Audi. But my key won’t work if I press the start button. It says No Key Identified. All buttons of key work. It would only start the vehicle if I put the key in slot. Any suggestions?

It may possible the unlock / locking door motors went out on you're vehicle. I own a 2009 Audi A4, and both my drivers side and rear passenger door do not unlock or lock via keyfob. To open drivers door without keyfob, just press the small button on back of keyfob to release the laser cut key and use that to both unlock and lock the door. As for thr cost of fixing both the locks on my doors at the Audi dealership? Its like over 1k, so I said screw that and just use this old fashioned method.

Theres no safety in anything wireless .. Advanced? i would say that for signal extenders but not for the key.

I have that on my VW Passat 6 2007.

Jack Sparrow VW makes Audi so you will see a lot of similarities. It may, but I doubt that the Passat has keyless start. You still have to put the key in. In my mom's Audi Q7 the key stays in my pocket and I simply push the button. Now days even entry level compact cars like Chevy Cruze and Ford Focus can have push start so it's not an exclusive feature like it used to be.

I like not having to dig the keys out of my pocket, avoiding the little scratches that inevitably accumulate around the key slot, and, having owned some older cars, I can tell you that lock cylinders DO wear out or break. Having to spend a minute jiggling the keys around before they will turn every time you unlock or start your car sucks. Also, keyless ignitions are much much harder to hotwire or bypass by destroying the lock cylinder. Even as a big time car enthusiast, I must say that I don't really understand why turning the key would be so pleasurable. I understand lamenting the disappearance of the manual transmission, but a physical key? I'm more than happy to just keep the key in my pocket and push a button.

The amount of plastic on the front of your BMW is absurd.

SUMIT FUMIT i dont like bmw but i think i8 key is pretty cool

ISSUES 1) if key fob is cold, it does not work (the red LED does not blink when pushing buttons). anybody else have this problem? 2) is there a way to clean the circuit board and contacts? will spraying contact cleaner into the interior of the shell be okay? 3) i do not like key fobs that can operate car locks or ignition by merely being in the proximity, it is only a matter of time before hackers will defeat the security coding and steal your car.

But mine has a screen behind the key

Bullshit, no need to hold the key untill the engine starts, and there is no touch sensor for trunk opening, just a simple button

Man how complicated! BMW is so much more advanced. It had the push start stop system since 2001! All BMW models now a days don't have a slot to put the keys in. Just keep it in your pocket and GO. It is not an option unlike the Mercedes C Class. Come on. You have to pay extra for a push start stop system? No thanks bro.

+Zuga's LP yes BMW is "so much more advanced" because it has doesnt have a slot to put the key in .... lol ok ... 1st .. bmw's built in the same period as this audi also had a slot to put the key in , and a button .. even if the system wasnt a "push to start" , which was kind of stupid 2nd the keyless entrey system was invented and introduced for the 1st time in a mercedes s-class in 1998 and Mercedes offers it as an option because some clients do not like the system , considering it a gimmick

That is not the same thing.If you drive a Japanese car my friend there is no comparison to the feel of an Audi I now have an Audi except for the cost of repairs it's great,more stability more turning Ratio....
