    One thing I want is to show all the bolt's tightening torque. I see it really well.

    I replaced mine just yesterday. No wonder they were leaking, the bolts closest to the exhaust were only finger tight. Thankfully my cam girdle was still nicely sealed.

    Is there any way to tell if the gaskets under neath the cylinder head are bad if I already assume the valve cover gasket is the main culprit of my leak? At least once every two weeks the car is asking for a quart of oil. I want to tackle the valve cover gasket job, but the cylinder head job to get to the spark plug gaskets underneath seems intense and too deep for me lol

    If the upper gaskets are bad, automatically the lower gaskets are bad too. They should normally be replaced together.

    Hey Keli my friend, I am curious why you didn't remove breather tube from the valve cover to make it easier to clean and replace the seal?

  • @ThatAfricanGuy

    @ThatAfricanGuy

    Hi Michael, the manual said not to disconnect them. I guess if you're in just to replace the valve cover gaskets, removing to breather hoses is not necessary and I don't think removing them would make the job easier. You still need to make room around the valve covers to properly remove them and place them back without misaligning the gaskets. Removing the breather hoses is not easy, there is a risk of breaking them.

    So if my car starts smoking on the driver side is it because of my valve cover ? I see a Lil oil near the valve gasket

  • @ThatAfricanGuy

    @ThatAfricanGuy

    3 жыл бұрын

    If you are referring to smoke from the engine bay, yes, likely. It's either from the valve covers or the rear upper timing chain covers, falling onto the exhaust system and burning into smoke.

    Hi. How nessecary is to, to unplug the wires at 7:40. Is you possible to just shake the cover off to remove it ?

  • @ThatAfricanGuy

    @ThatAfricanGuy

    4 жыл бұрын

    It is not absolutely necessary. You may disconnect the breather hose and wiggle to cover out, not as easily as on the other side though because there are more stuff in the way. However while struggling to place it back, the new gasket may move out without you noticing it and you risk installing it incorrectly which will cause leaks again after you're done.
