Audi A6 3.2 - Fixing Bank 2 Lower Intake

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Bank 1 lower intake mechanism failed a few years ago. I fixed it last year. Bank 2 lower intake mechanism just failed too. See what I find out.

    Thanks Very much. Your knowledge is so much appreciated. I just got my Audi Q5 2010 with 180,000 miles. The Catholic church account lady took very good care of. She not like us men, she never floor it. Ha ha. Best wishes from Seattle Washington USA 💙 God bless.

    Thank you so much for your kind comment and thank you even more for your super thanks! I am grateful!!! Take good care of that Q5. The 3.2 FSI engine is special and very tough. All it requires is regular oil and filter changes. After the 3.2, no other 6-cylinder engine from Audi has been this good. Welcome to the 3.2 FSI quattro world!!!

    Don't you worry the screw may come out later? It shouldn't be too tight as the two pieces need to freely rotate, one around the other. A screw would be inappropriate.

However it returned codes: p2296, p0171, p0174, p0087. I am curious if you had to work with these codes before, and is it possible that the same fix you display here will help to solve the issue I have? Or it could be something else?

    I just looked your codes up and the result is you have fuel pressure issues. I would suggest you start with replacing your fuel filter then drive the car for a few hundred miles to see if there's any improvement. When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter?

    Hey brother. I was thinking about an easy/cheap fix for the plastic flap instead of buying a new entire lower intake manifold assembly because its just the two pieces disconnecting. Anyways, I was thinking that I will be going to use some plastic bonding agents and permanent fix them together. Without having to take everything apart

    If you are planning to purchase a brand new one, it is expensive but is the best thing to do if you can afford it. If you can't afford a brand new piece, don't buy a used one because it will have the same issues. Just fix yours in that case.

    Sure! When "facing the engine from the outside", you have bank 1 on your left and bank 2 on your right. On bank 1, from the front of the engine to the back, you have cylinders 1, 2, 3. On bank 2, from the front of the engine to the back you have cylinders 4, 5, 6. Below is a clearer chart. 3 - 6 2 - 5 1 - 4

  • @ThatAfricanGuy

    What kind of cable? If it could hold up, why not? I did not use a steel wire. It's a sort of mixture of aluminium with another material. It is flexible but strong and will not rust.

    I just reseached the codes. P0010 reports a problem with bank 1 intake cam solenoid and P0020 reports a problem with bank 2 intake cam solenoid. Start with making sure their connections sit tight. It's the second and third ones I replaced in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aJiMj5dwl8SZmKg.html

  • @ThatAfricanGuy

    @ThatAfricanGuy

    Okay. Maybe you broke the connector tabs? It happened to some of mines too. To make them sit tight, apply a small piece of electric paper tape to the cam solenoid sockets end or on the connectors end to make them thicker. The connector will then sit tight. It's what I did. Here is an example: cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.audiworld.com-vbulletin/580x327/20200208_130845_eaff2074c12804398714380431a39175ac2748c1.jpg
