Nice video! I'm currently trying to decide what options to get on an a5 and since they're so similar this was helpful. It's so weird that Audi offers different levels of standard equipment based on country. I'm lucky that I get the 3 zone climate control and led taillights as standard but that's small change compared to what you get on a USA spec car

Thanks for this. Quite a few differences between markets as you note. What has really confused me is the option packs, and the constant "if you get this, you lose that, and must also buy this other". Driving me mad.

The LED (non Matrix) is by far the best light I've had in a car so far. Out of town I don't even feel the urge to activate the high beam.

Great video, I wish there were more candid reviews by journalists about standard options and what you pay extra for. I have a very similar spec, being in the UK the standard options are slightly different on the Sport trim (second up from basic the most basic SE trim here in the UK, here the 3 way climate control is standard for example). I did not opt for virtual cockpit and found the basic dials sufficient for my needs. Extended interior lighting for GBP 100 is a very nice touch, ambient lighting at night time, the kids love it. I opted for privacy glass and tow bar but be warned that the tow bar nose weight is only 75kg within 30cm of tow ball reducing to 35kg at 60cm from tow ball, the brochure states 80kg (full stop), which is different to the owners manual. Heated folding mirrors worth it too. 2L tsfi engine is very nice too, I've always favoured petrol as my mileage is less than 10k and made up of shorter journeys.

+Pritesh Chauhan Thanks for your comments, it's interesting to note that the standard options are different in the UK. It's easy to say why there aren't more videos like this; it's because it took an awful lot of time to research and make it!There were numerous other options that I considered, including the interior lighting, but I had to draw the line somewhere or I could have doubled the price of the car with the options! I gave this some thought again recently and so far I don't really miss any of the options that I didn't take - although you don't miss what you've never had.Concerning the Virtual Cockpit, for sure you don't miss out on any functionality with the standard gauges & small screen - it's really a cosmetic feature which is undeniably cool but whether it's worth the additional cost....well, that's an individual choice and there's no right or wrong answer.I'm coming over to England soon and it will be nice to be able to switch the gauges from km/h to mph :)

+Jonathan Oakey In the UK I think the basic climate control is not even available (standardised on 3 zone for all variants) and they also standardised I think on the electric tailgate. I'm considering an A4 purchase soon an I think I will go for the middle cockpit option with the larger colour display with the analogue gauges. It saves money but the experience seems to be similar to how the virtual cockpit looks when you maximise it's gauges? Given the centre display shows the large maps etc anyway and I think a lot of it can end up duplicated, I think this will be the best option leaving spare money to out towards different options. I want to make my car as semi autonomous as possible because I struggle with my legs and back on long journeys. So traffic jam assist, adaptive cruise control and automatic gearbox are all mandatory for me.

It's always going to be a balancing act with the options if you don't have unlimited funds! The middle option works really well too - functionally I think it's the same, you just have a bit less screen space for things like the map. It's more cosmetic and "cool factor" than anything else. Within a few years, I think all premium cars will have this kind of interface. If you prefer to spend your available funds on other options, though, I don't think you will be disappointed with the middle option as it's still very good. BTW I'm still (4 months in) really happy with my (first) automatic gearbox - it's very smooth and easy to drive.I'd be interested to hear what you think of the traffic jam assist and adaptive cruise control if you'd like to pop back and comment when you have the car.

+Jonathan Oakey Thanks. This will be my first automatic also as well as first Audi. I drive a Vauxhall Insignia 2 litre diesel manual transmission currently. I am planning on going with the 190 horse power two litre petrol engine for the A4 - wondering how real world fuel economy compares in the real world to the invariably unrealistic manufacturer published statistics? Really hope the Audi seats are as comfortable as the ones in my Insignia!

I have that engine and my fuel economy tends to be around 33-35 mpg. It can be more if there's a lot of motorway driving. It's lower than I expected but I don't do high mileage so it doesn't really bother me. The engine is super to drive!

Good video, very much to the point and useful info. But why the sad music on the background? It's almost like you don't like the car because your girlfriend forbid you to get the full spec.

Hah, no, the music was just to have something unobtrusive in the background, otherwise just my voice would sound awful! It was the other way round, there were some options that my girlfriend suggested, but as I was paying for the car, the final decisions were all mine (he says, ducking quickly).

I have a little more extras but didn't go for the LED light package (unfortunately, because those ones look much better than the standard xenon). Since it was too late to change my order I was trying to find footage of the new Audi with xenon to see what it looks like.

Thanks for your comment! They are usually shown in the car configurator on the Audi website for the country where you live. This video is probably out of date now, as I think Audi has refreshed the A4 since I bought mine. It's still going strong, though!

Timing chain, and Lots of oil useing incoming with your choice. Petrol engine. TDI is the strenger and saver engine !

I'm not sure which you mean, but there are several buttons which are fake, where I think there are other buttons if you take some different options. The two buttons on the right of the lower row of buttons don't do anything, for example.

I just wonder why you need premium class vehicle when you are not demanding. You specced your car worse than average Fabia. Please don't see this comment as hate but A4 is engineering marvel and your configuration makes it good as Fabia. I could never have climatic AC instead of full auto. Also dimming mirrors are must nowdays. Quattro is not just about driving in bad conditions. It sends a lot of power to the rear which makes handling of the car better in all situations.
