Hi! What in the collection do you find particularly interesting and impressive? That is new, of course. So no Tank Louis, Cintree, Crash, Asymetrique or Cloche. Santos is nice, but I don’t think it is new or Hugh enough of a feat to carry the brand as the “brilliant artist” they once were

@@TheoandHarris I guess that might be true, but I also note that we live in a backward-looking culture now: from movies and music to watch design, all art forms are looking back to a perceived ‘golden era’ - how many more prequals/sequals movies, faux patina divers, retro electronic music albums do we need before we get something innovative and original again? I think it’s due to our civilisation being on its downward slope now. People are looking for designs that have a foundation of authenticity and cultural meaning from a time when people were looking ahead to a brighter better future because today we just aren’t forward-looking and optimistic as a society. Still, I too want to see confident bold design in Cartier’s future!

I kind of disagree re the in-house stuff. If someone said to you that you could have a Porsche, but actually the engine was now being supplied by Ford, is that still the same car? Even if the performance is identical/better...IMO, no. Similar to a car, a watch movement is the beating heart.

How about a Ford, GM or Mazda engine in your Lamborghini, Audi, Pagini...it's just not the same is it? You'd try and convince yourself it was, but deep down you'd know. Gerald Genta was in the era of dainty WATCHES. He hast to realize many valve and get bigger with larger wrists. The AP offshore brick is the most gorgeous watch you can get in my opinion it's for real men lol
