The Sam Josefowitz Collection: Graphic Masterpieces by Rembrandt Van Rijn realised £7,916,130 / $9,950,575, with an exceptional sell-through rate of 100% by lot, reflecting the everlasting appeal of Rembrandt as a printmaker, of Old Master Prints, and the exceptional quality of Sam’s unrivalled collection.
This marks the highest total for an Old Master Prints sale since 1985, and 87% of lots sold above their high-estimate.
Over 50 new records were achieved, with highlights including Saint Jerome reading in an Italian Landscape which sold for £1,552,500 after ten minutes of bidding.
