Hello. Is it convenient to do hip thrusts with the Smith machine barbell?

Hello, thanks for messaging. Unless you elevate your feet ever-so-slightly, the lowest start-position of this smith is not overly favourable for an orthodox hip thrust, although I've seen it done many times. That said, are you familiar with the BIG smith machine court case in the States maybe 20-years ago? A recommendation of the ruling was smith's should have a fixed stop circa this height, plus, adjustable stops. Some do, some don't. This one does. We had it in our own gym for many years and it's a good piece of kit. Hope this helps. :) Matt

Hi Ole, both ATX and Barbarian Line are brand names owned by IFS, as well as others. A couple of years ago, IFS rebranded Barbarian Line products as ATX and it made up their ATX 700-series of product. This machine was, and still is, the exact same, aside from the logo plate. :) Best regards, Matt
