In this video, we are replacing the front and rear sprockets on our Yamaha YFZ450R. But for this project, we’ve introduced a wrinkle that will require a little extra work. We’ll show you how to install a linkless chain on your ATV.
We’ll start by loosening the rear hub and dog bone so that we can disconnect the swingarm, which is necessary to install a linkless chain since we can’t simply thread it behind the swingarm, loop it over the drive sprocket, and connect the ends. Once we get all of this taken apart, we’ll show you how to replace the front sprocket on your ATV, then install the linkless chain, and then replace the rear sprocket on your ATV. Finally, we’ll show you how to adjust the chain on your ATV so that it does not have too much slack.

So this is called an "endless chain". Because he is replacing an OEM chain it doesn't have a Master Link! I would of just cut it off and replaced it with a good aftermarket chain that comes with a Master Link.
I'm always very relieved when I'm looking for a YFZ video and the one I find starts with, "Hello John Talley here".

Tell me about it man. I've ordered and cancelled so much stuff. Ebay seems to be the most reliable on knowing when you are going to actually get your stuff. Plus they have almost everything LoneStar, Tm design works, Dennis Kirk etc. Although I highly recommend Dennis Kirk parts. I have them on my Sportsman and Raptor.

How do I stop front sprocket from spinning when tightening? Even with someone holding the brake still spinning
All that to replace the chain? Just get one with a master link or is there a benefit I’m not aware of to have a chain like that

What holds the sprocket hub in place on the axle? Just pressed on?
What kind of sprocket is that cause I just got a new sprocket and it didn’t fit and it looks exactly like what you got

Is the front sprocket supposed to be a little loose?
Is there any reason why not to just take out the master link and fish it through to avoid dropping the swingarm?

A wild amount of extra work for not wanting to be liable for teaching squids how to use the master link of a chain...
Can't you just press a link pin out with a chain tool?

Sure, but grinding the pins off is more fun.
If I want to increase top speed by changing sprockets what do you recommend? I have a 2020 yfz 450r. Trying to get just a little more speed out of it.

Either go up a tooth in the front or down 3 teeth in back that would be the same amount of change

don't recommend changing sprokets , might add u a little speed but will give u a lower acceleration , i suggest you get a k&n race filter and intake and exhaust , those stuff add up power to ur bike

@@sevensi62 as cool as that sounds, I don’t know how to add nitrous… and I’m not sure the stock internals can take it.

It's definitely more time consuming, but some people don't want a master link, so we figured we would show exactly how much work that entails.
Just take the master link out 🤦♂️, this is all for show to make his video longer it’s a waist of time
