    Sir, in the formula for attenuation, shouldn't it be log(output power/input power) instead of log(input power/output power). Maybe I am wrong. Please clarify

    If you get +ve attenuation then it should be Pin/Pout and visaversa.

    Engineering Funda in fact i want study the attenuation and dispersion and absoprtion in submarine fiber optical and my question is if i study those (attenyation dispersion....) in optical fiber that we do in our house. My studies can be the same as if do it in submarine fiber in other word attenyation and dispersion in realité it is the same in water???

    Yeah, cable is completely isolated from water. I don't know material used for submarines optical Fiber but science will not change.
