Technicly there should be a backdoor in the store that leads to a hallway connected to the other stores... this way store owners can do inventory and prepare before opening without risking customers coming in. Thou then again this is Springfield, so the mall was maybe a repurposed prison, so poor Stan is now locked in there.

There are a lot of good bits in this segment, but Lou taking the old guy's walker to barricade the door is wonderful.

Back when I was a kid our local mall had trees growing out of the ground. They got rid of them years ago and filled in those parts of the floor, but man do I miss them.

Also the fact that the guy is making such a big deal about it, like it's so horrible that someone poked the cheese packages multiple times, it's classic out of left field Simpsons humor.

Oh gawd yes. Working in a shop that opened at the completely standard regulated time of 9am, we'd have people waiting outside from about 8:50 and they'd start putting their faces up to the window around 8:55 to try to figure out why we weren't open early. This happened at least twice a week, every week.

Watching these old Simpsons clips makes me realize why I have the sense of humor I do.

How ironic that one of the sports with the least amount of contact, could cause the most damage by getting hit with the shoes. Also love the bit where Bart chews the gum for about 10 seconds, goes "Flavor's gone," and spits it out then takes another handful and does the same thing. Can you imagine what the employees thought of seeing a giant pile of chewed gum in the corner? Oh and can't forget watching cookie dough spray out of Milhouse's nose heh. And destroying both the raft and most likely the escalator at the same time. Also love how they only hear the lion growl when they open the plants.

I love how most of this scene is just old comedy bits from old cartoons and movies, but with a slight twist.

i've been binging youtube simpsons clips, and this is WAY funnier than i remembered. i guess i got ruined by all the more recent stuff and forgot how great it used to be.

I have a theory that the biggest problem of simpson episodes post-seasons 9/10 is the pacing. It feels so unnatural. Zero pauses between lines of dialogue like there were in seasons 1-10. Watching Simpsons after this season is like standing in front of a joke assembly line. Like, yeah, sometimes the jokes are funny, but they're always delivered so poorly. You gotta lose yourself in the moment, man.
