I thought I'd try taking the cuttings because I don't have that type of plant yet, so I've got nothing to lose!

The only cutting I seem to be any good at are softwood herby ones like the balms and basils!

I've done Taunton Dean cuttings before but I've not tried shrubs before.

Cuttings is something I should do more, but never get around to. I have in the past done a few rose cuttings that have now developed into full size rose bushes. Plants for nothing!
