What the kit did was eliminate several restriction points that Cat left behind in the design of those 5EK engine fuel systems thereby allowing better fuel flow to the injectors Bruce. The fuel priming pump setup is a huge restriction held over from the 3406 B/C models and they had such an opportunity that they passed over by redesigning it. In later models we removed the steel line and the block and put the fuel pressure relief valve in the filter base and eliminating the fuel restrictions there. The ECM module is fuel cooled which is why the fuel lines run to it. The computer on the trucks never did know the fuel pressure in the system like they did in the industrial and machine engine. Now the restrictions to eliminate is the fitting at the rear of the cylinder head to allow more fuel flow through it. You might be able to carefully drill out each end of the fitting to allow for a bit more fuel there. With the higher fuel demands that the engine will need eventually upgrading the fuel feeder lines to the fast pump and to the cat pump might also be in order. Larger lines and fittings will keep you from starving and overheating the injectors on hard pulls. I wonder if instead of an air to air after cooler if an aftercooler mounted over the engine that can be packed in ice and water would be a better idea in order to cool the intake air better? At the very least make sure you run the fan to draw enough air through your new aftercooler to keep your EGTs and your intake air temps down to better burn more of the fuel your delivering. All that smoke might be cooling the cylinders but it's also wasted horsepower possibilities.

“All that smoke is wasted horsepower possibilities”. Here’s the problem I have with that argument. Why do you think it is that you never see a high horsepower diesel that doesn’t smoke? As competitive as pulling is, everyone is trying to get every decimal point of power out of their diesels. If smoke was wasted power don’t you think when you go to pulls you would NEVER see smoke? Make it make sense
@clayrobbirds5361
Жыл бұрын
@@nalley6815 so ultimately the smoke is wasted power but you want a high hp diesel to smoke because all the extra fuel keeps it cooler than tuning the smoke out.
@clayrobbirds5361

And cat also doesn’t mind all the restrictions because the c15 was never meant to make 550hp that’s why the old cats are so reliable. Over built and low hp. I work for Thompson CAT.

@@clayrobbirds5361 You need all that fuel to keep a big turbo lit. Less fuel won’t make as much boost. So now we’re at the point of enough fuel and the egts are ridiculous so now we have to run water injection and spend more money just to keep the pistons from leaving the party. Point is, no matter what, a high hp diesel will always smoke under load. You tune the smoke out and you magically have a lot less power. So I’m gonna ask a question. If I was after more power why wouldn’t I just turn the fuel down and still run water injection to keep the temps down and suddenly pick up power? Because it doesn’t work like that. I’m gonna give you an example here. A 10k# hot farm tractor. 3000rpm limit with a 3” max inlet. Because of the 3000rpm limit if you turn that fuel down even a little bit that tractor isn’t gonna run worth a crap. Have to have the fuel to make these hot farms make 75-80psi. People didn’t just start making diesels smoke because it looks cool (some do but we don’t talk about that because their trucks make 200hp). It has to happen to make power. Now you can definitely nearly eliminate the smoke with nitrous but nitrous isn’t allowed in any diesel classes as far as I know. And it shouldn’t be. Now if we’re talking about factory turbos and your diesel smokes a lot then you’re just wasting fuel because the turbo is already making what it’s gonna make.
Not bad for running on 4 cylinder's
I think a good find for rearends and suspension would be some oilfield style Eaton DS463’s with lockers on Neway air ride with the J shaped arms. Many pro pullers use that Neway suspension. If the current rears are DS404’s, consider them disposable series. In a road truck, they’re good until they’re bad. If in a vocational truck, and a gear ratio 4.33 and lower, they will loosen the ring gear bolts and splatter either the front or rear driver.
Sick dopedy dope brah watch me spark up mom and dad's paycheck dawg
Love how your slowly making this thing your own! Definitely need to add some of your flair to the mirrors and headlights soon🤘🏼
Leave it Black with those silver stripes, it looks BADASS !!! The boxes look great. And quit trying to break it before its hooked to the sled. Enjoy your videos, Keep on Truckin.

Yeah up,should call it”black dog” don’t fall sleep it might show up on the windshield.😎🤙🥱
Awesome video, Bruce. The truck looks awesome. I appreciate the channel, buddy 👍
Should get rid of that hood stack and put stacks on the back of that unit
Steps looking fine and when you get it finish. Great job
The primer basically primes the fuel system, so that when you turn the key, the truck should fire up right away unlike the older Cummins where you have to manually fill up the injection pump
It looks good. And now that I saw it from a distance I can tell the boxes are a little higher than the side panels that were on it. It would be fun on some newer slicker asphalt right after it rained. lol. That road you were on is so rough and you have those course treaded tires on it so those tires were grabbing that road too much.
Can't wait to see ya break some stuff love the truck and tractor
I really love the look you are going for with the pulling truck
Definitely getting this beast right and when that turbo hits sounds like a whistle lol
Bruce, I hope all the changes you make works!!!
Looking good!!!! needs stacks
It looked funny. It sprung up like a spring. 😆 Glad it wasn't too bad.
Pull truck looks way better with all the chrome 👍👍💪. Wish you could put some tall stacks on it.
I think something like those drop panels that were on there going into running boards that match up to the front fenders like an old pickup would be cool on a semi instead of those toolboxes.
Boxes look great brother…also needs some 03 and up 379 or 389 mirrors as well bro! maybe change those front fenders too but it’s definitely looking sweet 😎🤟💯💯
Definitely digging the new look.
Howdy Bruce hope all is good with ur family love the videos man
Ha! I used to live in Putnam Co. [Palatka] FL back in the 70s n 80s. Swamp buggies were big then. Not these new skinny tired weird airplane looking contraptions running through ponds n crap. Truck based running ground hawg tires running through mud! The popular one in our area was called the Sawmp Rat. Bad mamma-jamma. My dad worked in the pulp wood industry. I fell in love with trucks n I'm still trucking today. Now I haul a lot of finished paper products. My mom worked briefly at the Hudson paper mill. It later sold out to Georgia Pacific. Small world. I was mad at you for changing up the pulling truck but I'm not so mad anymore now that we have a little relatable stuff going on lol Good luck.
Love Ambers OF Bruce. Glad you introduced us to her some years ago.
Looks good with the step boxes will look even better once you have air cleaners 10 inch stacks would make it
I would think some sort of solid suspension would be best. Something like walking beams on rubber blocks. Make sure drive shaft angles are correct.
On another Cat engine video the mechanic, who seamed to know a lot, said the fuel flowing through the ECM was just to cool the ECM.
steps look very nice
How about we fix up ol bc

You know on drag strip cars how they have latter bars on the back or some kind of tork bar for the back of your black truck, they have to make something for it. Love that black truck, keep up the great work.
Needs big duel, chrome stacks

Looks good bruce 👌
Wow that thing's going to be a SCREAMER
So many say its restricted but same system supported 800hp Industial engines and still returned 50% of fuel back to the tanks for injector cooling. Biggest problem I've seen many have wrong primary fuel filter FS1000 that Cummins N14 filter 10-micron filter. All filter company's cross CAT filter to FS1000
Rock n roll with the burn out!
Pullin truck lookin good. 👍
Looks great boxes are 👌. Don’t paint it blue just stripe it in blue and accent blue …could look killer behind Tratter taxi
keep the clips coming
Hell are Napa closes at 5:30,noon on Saturday,Closed on Sunday. If you don’t own a shop they act like they’re doing you a favor by helping you. Farmer friend of mine spent $30,000 there last year and every time he goes in there. They ignore him half the time. He called corporate on them.

Dang flat spot heaven on those from tires
great video..updates on the TRXXX?????
I was hoping you was getting a grill like the Trator Taxi🤘🏼🇺🇸
1/2 inch chain ⛓️ is what most guys in quebec have good video 🍻
Badass I wouldn't change nothing I love the stake out the hood it's different
The black wheels looked so much better it looks less mean now
18:59 soundin like a steam engine 😮 badass rig
Sounds like an old poppin John, which is cool, Also kinda reminds me of an old train.
Primer pumps leak air alot also its a restriction if you block it off and use a fass it will increase flow
Yes sir cool video 👍
Adjustable 4 link.for the rear axle. With stabilizers.
You definately need to take that boy out for some drag events!
can u still pull large trailers with I would love to see it pull a trailer. ❤Love the videos ❤
Bruce did you buy any chance square up that block off plate cause a shop put one on my friends 3406 and it wasn't flat it was sucking air no leaks but it was sucking air
Dang it Bruce you had me worried...
I live in London Ky which is about 10 miles north of Corbin. When you coming to Corbin?
That thing rips 😀
I would love to see that black rusty brown like that truck in dual
Bruce maybe you should have Davis Brothers or whoever did your Tratter Taxi grill and have them make a custom one for Business Expense. Also I've seen this done before and I think it would be fitting for this truck, but take a led light bar something probably ½ inch wide and put it on the grill surround on the inside so your grill will glow and if you truck name is in the right spot on the grill it will glow as well.
Would sound so much better with stacks!
The fuel goes in to the ecm in order to change the fuel from a liquid to an electric current 😊
Starts to look like every Peterbilt out there.
Looking good do a stainless panel
Like the new look alot.
Possibly a smaller ar exhaust housing and lower injection timing at low rpm to get it spooling better
Definitely shuld put big ol crome long 💀 skull shifter that lights up in eyes it definitely sute style of the truck find some underflow that has words business expense so if pull at night evry one will see def looking rad 🤘🤘
The burnout was awesome maybe do stack on it instead of the hood stack 2 looks better than one on a Peterbuilt
Step boxes do look good.
Whats the cable for that goes around the head down the side of the block
It look good its going look killer
It is a pulling truck ment to dig burnouts will break stuff love business expense can't wait for your next pull
Alot of places close early in crossville
I think it needs stacks boxes look much better
I’d like to see Ryan do a burnout in the challenger
Ooh Tommy's gonna yell at Bruce for messing up the concrete lol 😂😆

Need to get some weld on hooks. Regular chain hooks are trash.
Hydraulicing the cylinders is a real possibility at that point hard parts are made not so hard . A good rule to remember is , u change one thing,,this changes everything . !
You need a Globe RGN for going to the tractor pulls. Write off as advertisement
16:38 was that the hook you welded on? Good welding skills if the hook broke before the weld did.
I wanna see this beast pulling loads
Dam ole son you gotta get some gauges on that rig lol
Which link I can find those rear hub caps?
Take your time with the truck 🚛 okay
Super glad she still loads. Thought it had good burnouts. Looking good mr Bruce. Keep em coming.
What is the black ring in your beard left side jaw looks like you had a greasy hose get ya lol thanks for sharing
put some chrome stacks on it. it will look good with the rest of the chrome
52K Rears are calling your name Bruce .. 🔥🔥
you have to eat at lefty barbeque by pilot truck stop good ribs.
At least it’s looking good
They look good they look like my boxes on my truck
Gentry just stopped at SH tube? is that right haha my hearing sucks dropped off a cab over
Starting to go back to looking like every other Pete. Still a cool truck.
If you restrict the fuel return line too much the motor will idle up back when men were men we drilled a hole in a dime and put it in the fuel return line for restrictor or the dirty way you put a pair of vice grips on the fuel return line
Hat I love it
Hey what’s up bro how are you much love
Is the flat black a wrap, or is it painted on? If it's just a wrap I'd peel it off of there and have a shiny black truck, that would look sick with all the Chrome!
You should race the truck. It seems like it would be a good unit in truck racing along with sled pulling
