Erwin was kinda that character that I liked from the start. I've never been really in love with these "Calm ones" who keeps their feeling inside most of the times, but Erwin was... He was probably best one for me. His dream that he was holding for, his gambles, all of that. He wasn't really opened to anyone but Levi since he became the Commander, and you can see how he was ready to do anything for just a little chance of winning. And in the end, when he was just a few meters away from the truth, he died as a brave soldier. And I must say, Levi made these last moments of Erwin's life only more sad, when he "Let Erwin rest". And it's ironic how these two started as "enemies" and then they became kinda friends. Just like Kenny and Uri did. Erwin Smith gave his heart, but he will live in our own hearts.

He didn't choose to save Armin. He *chose* to die, to fall with his soldiers in a suicide charge against the Beast Titan in order to atone for the innumerable sins he committed. He was a tired man, and Levi knew that if he forced his friend to continue on as the devil the Survey Corps needed him to be, then he would have broken. Levi knew that, and allowed his friend to, finally, rest. Saving Armin was a byproduct of that, had it been anyone else, I'm confident it would have ended the same, Erwin dying, and random, fatally wounded soldier turning into the Colossus Titan.

No matter what happens Commander Erwin is Commander Erwin and that's why he is my favourite character in the whole series .

What ever other people say to this, but Erwin is my best fictional character not just in Attack on Titan, but also in all shows and Animes, that I watched. No one can approach him

His motivations were selfish, and his methods were corrupt. He forced people to fight for him and to die for him, and he deceived others to make them choose to do the same. But he was still a good guy, and I love him.

Fan are such hypocrites, Eren has become a major *ss (and wasn't that great of a character even before) since then and everyone is like "oh he has reasons we still love him and he is still awesome". Whereas Erwin is often hated and called 'evil' and selfish for similar behaviour (executed much more elegantly, cleverly in a mature way I might add).

Erwin does not have enough self-esteem to be selfish. His personal ambitions were exactly that of the SC: to discover the truth about the world and the titans. He would have acted the same anyway.

His death is so magnificent that make me cry a lot. Rest in power, sir. Now Hange died, Erwin's gone, only Levi. Erwin is the ultimate OG. I am such a big fan of the guy like Damn he said "Advance" when his whole right arm was in a Titan's mouth, he sacrificed himself just to set up an example for his men, declined to be revived and always stayed on humanity's side and never cared about his life. That was probably the reason Levi being the strongest soldier of the whole Paradis island trusted him so much.

i would rather choose death than living a nightmare that he has through from season 2 to final season now, also all he or eren has through is the reason why he went mental or psycho or crazy. sorry if im offended someone but i am glad Erwin doesn't had to experience the horror of the final season. i truly glad Erwin died as hero rather than living and ended up being psycho or crazy like eren.

His ability to endure and carry so much mental and emotional stress is unbelievable to me. I honestly would hate to be Erwin. That is a burden I could not hold.
