    The unsettling thing is not how realistic this is, but how the story of Eren and the others is just a speck of dust in time. In 2,000 years there was a war destroying the cities of Paradis Island, and in 20,000 years there are only remnants of an ancient civilization shrouded by the landscape of nature. How many times have we stumbled upon discovering civilizations that existed thousands of years ago but that disappeared due to wars caused by themselves? The cycle never ends, that's it.

    Truly horrifying to think about, but fascinating in its own right. Imagine what happens when we fall and another one of our civilization rises from the ashes, what would they see from our demise? Would they assume the same as most archeologist that such things are inevitable? And later put no mind to it as it has happened to long ago for them to actually care?

    Well if it serves you guys, the apocryphal book of Enoch says that in the times of Noah, the Nephilim (giants born from angels with female humans), ruled mercilessly over humanity, the Great Flood was the only thing that stopped them. Alongside the Nephilim (as working with them), the book also mention something about "Monsters" but the real meaning is not clear. I theorize over this that these Nephilim made experiments with procriating with other (animal) species and these "monsters" were born. Imagine if it was true in fact. I even theorize that the destroyers of Paradis were the people that left the island after the rumbling due to not agreeing with Yeagerist military regime (we saw that some peopleleft). After centuries their population size grew so much they became their own nation, along with Paradis they were more powerful then descendants of marleyans and hizuru and other non-eldians nations that survived. And they got at war on future Paradis people and destroyed them, at a time that rumbling and titans were considered but a myth, and without even knowing they were once the same people...

It is as if we now believe that dragons once existed because there are legends about them. What has happened, and what Isayama meant, is that humans for one reason or another will always end up waging wars because unfortunately it is part of their being. Even if they had passed the story on from generation to generation centuries later there was no more evidence to prove it (Eren's grave was secret and only his friends knew where it was, besides the fact that it is only a gravestone, there is no writing on it ‘here rests the one who had destroyed 80% of the world’) consequently it has definitely become a legend that no one believes in anymore. Simply the humans on the island had disagreements, for one reason or another, with other humans and a new war broke out, the end. 😊

    I'm surprised seeing how many people failed to see the Silver Lining in this series. People always focused on the war in the future and said Eren failed in protecting Paradis. But did they saw the thousand years of peace and progress before the war? A year of war and terror may be easier to remember, but thousand years of peace and prosperity? In the end, Eren did what he need to do, his friends and families live long and happy life, and died in comfort within their loving families and friends. As what happened in the future, it doesn't matter anymore, they probably already forgot about the Rumbling, the Titans, and Eren's sacrifice, and a new conflict arise, be it's Eldians vs the world or Eldians vs Eldians.

    You are talking shit straight out of your ass. He never ONCE said he hated the ending. He said that he felt he wasn’t able to properly execute certain parts of the ending in the MANGA. But he fixed that in the anime. ”Nothing happened, nothing changed?” That is just objectively wrong. Everything DID change. Before Eren, Paradis was going to be wiped out by Marley. After Eren, Paradis became the world’s most powerful nation and was at peace with the rest of the world for 2000 years. That is a monumental achievement. The only thing that didn’t change was human nature, which is good, because that’s the most central theme of the entire story! Conflict and hatred is ingrained into our very nature. It’s impossible for us to have permanent world peace. But Eren made another option, one that was so long lasting that it might as well have BEEN a permanent peace. In the end, I don’t even know why I bother arguing with you guys anymore. After all, no one gives a damn about what you think anymore. Opinion polls, rating websites and countless reviews from the most relevant anime reviewers on the internet all show that, at the absolute least, 90% - 95% of all people liked the ending. When it comes to entertainment, if you have THAT many people loving the ending to a story, then any attempt to claim that it was a horrible ending is just a complete joke.

    The rumbling wasn’t meant to ensure everlasting peace. Eren knew that world peace was impossible. He always knew that, but the knowledge that the entire world wanted to annihilate his homeland obliterated any hope of even attempting to achieve such an ideal. The Rumbling was meant to ensure his friends got to live full lives, and the Rumbling was the only option that could ensure that. Or the euthanasia plan, but he expressed disdain and disgust at the thought of revoking his people’s pee-pee privileges (as he should). That was made abundantly clear through s4. Eren understood that. The Yeagerists understood that. Floch understood that. Their goal was never to achieve world peace, but rather a guaranteed future for their people. In a world where the Rumbling was completely successful, Civil War would’ve definitely been possible. Imminent, even. But the threat of total annihilation is more threatening than a potential Civil War. Violence is human nature, and the cycle will never end. But at least a Civil War meant they achieved their endgame, a future. Following the original manga ending, (Attempting to make Paradis futuristic was a half-assed attempt to ‘fix’ the ending. Even the missile launchers used are seemingly 20th century, despite taking place thousands of years later) 50-100 years pass, and what they-at least, Floch and the Yeagerists-feared what would happen indeed happens; total destruction of their home, of their people, of their future. Eren failed. Paradise fell. His friends got to live long lives, their families didn’t. The remaining 20% of humanity achieved what they’d originally set out to do once they’d recovered, genocide. Eren’s 80% Rumbling plan was pointless in the end, causing unnecessary death and destruction as well as generations of suffering for those who survived. At that point, Zeke’s Euthanasia plan would’ve been far better for everyone involved, rather than the entire world facing the consequences for Eren’s ‘idiotic’ behavior. The Rumbling was the only solution. Floch was right. The Yeagerists were right. Eren was initially right, before he started spewing nonsense and contradicting excuses as to why he did what he did. Thanks for reading, if anyone did lol

    All well and good, except the moral math doesn’t check out. Killing billions of innocent people to save one million lives is utter insanity. Eren went for the most evil possible option. Zeke’s plan, while also evil, was far less so than Eren’s.

  • @thesmolbean488

    @thesmolbean488

    @Epistolary8 Oh for sure lol The Rumbling was definitely an evil, disgusting route to take. That’s something everyone can agree on, including those who supported it. The fact that Eren was willing to do such a thing to protect what was his was an interesting aspect of his character I enjoyed. His dedication and loyalty towards those he loved lead him to take such drastic measures to ensure their freedom as well as his own. His character was interesting because of that. Well, at least until he admitted to being a goofy goober who didn’t know what he was doing or why. In the end, Eren failed everyone. He fucked over his entire race, fucked over the people who dedicated their lives to his cause because they understood he was right, and he definitely fucked over the people that died prior (his mother, the countless Scouts’ who’d died ensuring they got him as far as they did, etc) because it was all for nothing. It was all planned, or he was ‘just acting’. And they get nuked anyway because Eren didn’t finish the job. (Yes I know it’s immoral, but genocide against Paradise is also immoral, which is what they were going to do.) Honestly, that’s why Zeke’s plan made more sense than Eren’s. Yes, Eldia would’ve died out as a race, and they would’ve been fucked over too, but at least the rest of the world wouldn’t have had to suffer.
