We are Thomas and Petra and late August 2020 we left Sweden to start our first sailing adventure. We sailed for a year to the Caribbean and back again. October 2023 we bought a new sailboat, a Wasa 530 that is need of some renovation.
On our channel you will be able to follow our process - from buying a sailboat that has been standing for 10+ years and turning her into a perfect blue water cruiser!
Our plan going forward is to post a new video bi-weekly on Saturdays.
More info about our new sailboat can be found here: sailingannemon.com/about/the-b...

    You better use fine tread rod,and certainly not rvs to pull the cutlass in. Big work though!! That keel.

    Hi Thomas and Petra from the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, I just found your channel and this keel really caught my attention when I visited your home page. Firstly I think you have made a wise decision with the old hydraulic keel, unless you were prepared to do a thorough rebuild you have chosen the best decision and secondly, wow, that keel pour was just awesome, I had my doubts as saw a very similar attempt on another channel with a bad outcome, yours was simply spectacular, will you spend some time and fair the surface at some stage because I suspect it will cause drag through the water and also promote marine growth as it is, just a thought. Also, that sleeve you fitted, put them in the freezer for a few hours or better still in dry ice and the diameter will shrink enough to make it an easy interference fit. Love what you guys are doing, have subscribed and given a shout out to friends to look and subscribe. Hope you had a good nights sleep.

    Thank you those kind words 😊 would love to visit Australia one day, hopefully with this sailboat! Yes, we will fair the surface (currently working with that and other stuff needed in order to finalize the keel) 😊

    Hej!

    @@SailingAnneMon You can put a waterproof safe down there to store your gold bullion and your doubloons or you could turn it into the world’s most challenging geocache. So many opportunities. No wasted space in a boat.

    Are you going to re-torque those nuts again once the epoxy has set fully ? What's the plan for locking them up, double nuts or secondary nylocks or something ?

  • @SailingAnneMon

    @SailingAnneMon

    Ай бұрын

    Yes, we will re-torque them after the epoxy has cured 😊 we will lock them in with epoxy padding, but as we’ve done a proper pre-tension while torquing the nuts locking them isn’t needed as the rod will act as a spring with its pre-tension 😊

    Fantastiskt jobb! En fråga. Ni ser ingen fara med att ha muttrarna till kölbultarna i underkant av kölen. Smäller ni på så är det ju dom som tar smällen…?

  • @SailingAnneMon

    @SailingAnneMon

    Ай бұрын

    Tack ☺️ muttrarna är infällda i kölen så de är lite skyddade av kölen i sig. Vi resonerar lite såhär; om vi touchar lättare så kommer muttrarna skyddas av att de är infällda. Om vi å andra sidan går på grund så rejält att muttrarna tar skada har vi då också andra skador att ta hand då också 😊

    Det är säkert ingen fara och kommer gå bra. Lycka till med det fortsatta arbetet.
