I love how he avoided talking about the depth of the lyrics and how he used Los Angeles as a metaphor. It's brilliant, in my opinion, and can also understand why he didn't elaborate, just simply said, "The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory."

I think he has just matured. If you listen to the lyrics of the new album, you can kind of gauge what kinds of experiences he's had and how that has perhaps changed him from the John from CSWS, or even John from one year ago.
