    having a hybrid this way and how giron explains the power of gut, makes sense when you see certain players like fed hitting so effortlessly but crushing the ball. he had a similar setup but instead of tour bite, he had luxilon alu power rough. which you can actually pick up as a set called champions choice.

    Problem is Alu power loses tension so quickly and as a poly does not last long, which mean syou have to spend so much money getting the gut cut out way too early, your better off with 4g

    @@CH-yp5by well for people who don't play on tour level like them( ie us), we can't afford/don't need to be constantly switching out strings like they do. 4g is great for tension management but is a stiff string that is tough on the arm. polys in general tend to lose tension comparatively which you are right but it really also depends on your play time. i used to only play with rpm blast so any string i choose over that will last longer lol

    For rec players that aren’t restringing often, YES it will wear through the gut faster compared to a round poly. That being said when the poly eventually gets locked in the gut crosses the sharpness of the Tour Bite will still create friction on the ball to create spin despite the SnapBack being reduced

    Do you have your favorites for poly cross strings with gut mains? What are some of your favorites. Most people don't want to spend $20. a set for Luxilon like the pros. I am looking for a poly cross that marines well with natural gut to give you maximum playability. Right now I am using Hyper-G 20 gauge poly. The Solinco Hyper-G 20 in my gut / poly hybrid was arrived at by trying every other string in the Solinco line in 18 or 20 gauge (if available). Prior to that, I play tested numerous slick smooth rounded polys (dozens) to see which ones performed best. My top five previously priced under $14. a set were (in order): 1) Yonex Pro Tour FIRE 1.20; 2) Weiss CANNON Silverstring 17; 3) Kirschbaum Pro Line EVO; 4) Mayami Hit Pro 1.25; and, 5) MSV Co-Focus 17L (1.18). Just ordered Tier One GHOSTWIRE and Grapplesnake Tour M8 (which I know you like a lot). What would you top three polys be for cross strings with gut?

    I have read differing opinions on gut / poly hybrids and the string tension differential. If you put the natural gut in the MAINS and poly in the crosses, how much lower in tension would you recommend stringing the poly crosses for optimal performance and snap-back?

  • @tenniswarehouse

    @tenniswarehouse

    Жыл бұрын

    We typically find that a 2 to 4 pound difference, between the gut and the poly to be a fairly common range. You don't want too much separation between the tensions, and also once you feel the strings have lost their life, or no longer play well for your perspective, if you haven't snapped them by then make sure to cut the strings out, becuase of frame deformation. The gut will maintain tension for much longer, so it will start to bend the frame slightly once the poly goes dead. Troy, TW

    @@markmoore5981, the lower the cross tension, in theory it should allow for the mains to move and snap back more freely. That said, it is more about finding the balance of power/control and feel, and some actually don't use different tensions. The last time I strung a gut hybrid for my use, I did the same tension for both. So I think it more comes down to what feels best for you, and hard to say forsure what will work best without trying it. I noticed when coming from a full poly, to a gut hybrid, that I had to increase tension to compensate for the high level of power the gut offers. Troy, TW

    @@markmoore5981 It actually depends which poly you use, you will find the pros only have 1 lbs less for Alu power as it loses tension so quickly so there is no point making it a few lbs to begin with, however if you used Luxilon 4g you can have more seperation at stringing time as this has superior tension maintenance.
