Thanks for sharing this knowledge. Your are doing a great work! I just wat to comment about some readers comments saying that atoms are the "ultimate reality". As you probably know, this model of the atom is useful mean to help understand chemistry but do not reflect the reality of the atom. It is exact to say that the nucleus is in the center, the atom is mostly void space, electrons are much smaller that nucleus particles, and are on the outside part of the atom. This is right to say that electron have orbitals, with associated energy levels, but the analogy stops here. As we draw particles as dots, this is not an exact representation for atomic particles. Drawing orbits is not the reality also. The quantum world from which these particles belong is a strange word of field waves, and we now know that atoms are not the ultimate reality. Particles are themselves manifestation of interaction of quantic fields. So this representation of atoms is convenient for chemistry but not realistic for actual physics. I just want to leave this note as a precision for some readers comment about the atom.

All composite particles are massive. Baryons (meaning "heavy") tend to have greater mass than mesons (meaning "intermediate"), which in turn tend to be heavier than leptons (meaning "lightweight"), but the heaviest lepton (the tau particle) is heavier than the two lightest flavours of baryons (nucleons). It is also certain that any particle with an electric charge is massive. All massless particles (particles whose invariant mass is zero) are elementary. These include the photon and gluon, although the latter cannot be isolated.Composite subatomic particles (such as protons or atomic nuclei) are bound states of two or more elementary particles. For example, a proton is made of two up quarks and one down quark, while the atomic nucleus of helium-4 is composed of two protons and two neutrons. 11-animation

This is a great all rounder video (I'm a total beginner!!!), but I have a few questions... 1) Are atoms and elements (of the periodic table) the same thing? The atomic mass matches, but is an "element" a broader description? 2) At 4:08, you talk about Hydrogen Isotopes in particular. I was wondering if there was a reason you chose to identify hydrogen isotopes over other elements? 3) Is it quite common that isotopes have names? If they do not, is there a standard of identifying an isotope?

I learned so many things in this kind of topic. I thought that there is only one kind of atom but I was wrong, there, i know that this is this one kind of particle which is called "Subatomic particles" where, this kind of particles is much smaller than atom. And there i knew that there are two types of this subatomic particles the •Elementary particles• and •Composite particles• which are both subatomic particles. We all know that in physics the general topic that we encountered is "Particles" and after we knew all the concepts and ideas of it, we can now reflect its use from the smallest to largest use, and the concept of this was inherited from the classical physics. But now it reflects the modern understanding of people. If we can still remember the quantum scale matter from the physics by using energy and electricity we can say that there is a big difference from what we expect to the expectations we thought. In particles we have this stream of particles called "PHOTONS" i repeat "PHOTONS" not "PROTONS". Photons is a stream of particles in where it was showed during the scientists went to a serious experiment and there they found out this kind of particles which look like a wave-like properties. So by this, they were able to come up to a new study which led them to the new concept of wavr particle to reflect that "particles" and "waves" are bes described as "WAVICLES" and it is understandable that it flows because it waves according to its proper movement. And there is this new concept which is "THE UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE" which states that and i quote "some of their properties taken together such as simultaneous position and momentum, cannot be measured exactly." If we are going to paraphrase it, it says that the positions of some properties can't me measured properly because of some unexplainable reasons. The interaction of particles in framework of quantum field theory best described and understood as creation and annihilation of quantum of corresponding which it corresponds from the interaction of what it was showed. And by this it blends the particle physics with the touch of field theory.

Thank you very much. I've learned suck as A typical atom consists of three subatomic particles: protons, neutrons, and electrons (as seen in the helium atom below). Other particles exist as well, such as alpha and beta particles (which are discussed below). The Bohr model shows the three basic subatomic particles in a simple manner. Most of an atom's mass is in the nucleus-a small, dense area at the center of every atom, composed of nucleons. Nucleons include protons and neutrons. All the positive charge of an atom is contained in the nucleus, and originates from the protons. Neutrons are neutrally-charged. Electrons, which are negatively-charged, are located outside of the nucleus. -Gino Yurag 11- ANIMATION

By, watching this video we that the particles may be electrically charged. Charge is a property which defines the force that a particle will exert on other charged particles. Positive charges and negative charges will attract each other and come together. Two positive or two negative charges will push each other away. And also the calcualations of these elements how they construct as well. All material things are made from atoms. There are just over one hundred different types of atom, called elements. Atoms can join together in millions of different combinations to make all the substances on Earth and beyond.

Watching this video, I learned that the atom is the smallest constituent matter that have the subatomic particles and these are the protons that have the positive charge, electron that have the negatively charge and the neutron that giving a neutral charge of zero. The mass of the proton is one atomic mass unit, the mass of the neutron is the same of the proton while the mass of the electron is 18 hundredths of an atomic mass unit therefor the mass of electron is zero. The two essential of atom is the atom atomic number that represented by the capital letter Z while the atoms atomic mass which is represent as a capital letter A. The atomic number is equal to the number of protons within an atom. The atomic mass is just the total of the mass of every atom from the protons plus the mass of the neutron.

Subatomic particle, also called elementary particle, any of various self-contained units of matter or energy that are the fundamental constituents of all matter. Subatomic particles include electrons, the negatively charged, almost massless particles that nevertheless account for most of the size of the atom, and they include the heavier building blocks of the small but very dense nucleus of the atom, the positively charged protons and the electrically neutral neutrons. But these basic atomic components are by no means the only known subatomic particles. Protons and neutrons, for instance, are themselves made up of elementary particles called quarks, and the electron is only one member of a class of elementary particles that also includes the muon and the neutrino. Sub atomic particle,A typical atom consists of three subatomic particles: protons, neutrons, and electrons (as seen in the helium atom below). It is incredible that from nothing they managed to create Atomice Structure, from the combination of other Discoverers etc. the Atomic Structure was developed and now is helping the present scientists.

I've learned about this videos are these Atom, Atomic mass, Hydrogen isotopes, Atomic Structure. First, atom these are the subatomic particles proton, neutron, and electron. The charge of the proton is +1 with a mass of 1 amu. Neutrons has no charge or 0 with a mass of 1 amu. While the electron has a -1 charge with a mass of 1 over 1800 or 0. AMU stands for Atomic Mass Unit. Second, Atomic mass i know atomic mass it'll calcuted the weight of protons and neutrons. Third, Hydrogen isotopes is the most common isotope of hydrogen, consists of one proton and one electron. Fourth, Atomic Structure is to find each atom is made of a nucleus - containing protons and neutrons - surrounded by electrons. The atomic number is the number of protons in an atom. 11-ANIMATION

*MARY ANN PANTOLLANA - I've learned that everything in this world is made up of atom. And the atom is the smallest whole structure that makes of matter. Withinthe atom you have subatomic particle, and this include the proton that has a positive charge and has one atomic mass unit ,and the neutron has a zero charge and they are the same of the proton that has one atomic mass unit, the electron has a negative charge , and its mass is zero. Since the proton and neutron are the heavy subatomic particles this is were all the mass of the atoms comes from.

Thanks for letting me know you have questions about this! The mass of an electron is negligible when compared to that of the proton and neutron. At 0:55 in the video, I explain how the electron’s mass is approximately 1/1800 amu. This is so small that we consider it to have zero mass. It adds nothing to the atomic mass of a given element.

Hello .. Your video is quite illustrative and very good. I know it's been uploaded for a long time now (about 6 years ago) BUT having listened to it, i wish to make some clarification. In your opening sentence, you said: "...Everything in the world is MADE OUT OF atom and atom is the smallest whole structure that MAKES UP matter..." I think the scientific statement should be ... "Everything in the World is MADE UP OF atom" and not OUT OF ATOM. They mean two different things. To buttress it .. The World(Earth) is made up of matter and matter is made up of Atom thus the World is made up of atom. Please, correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you
