I used to listen to this song 11 years ago and it still hits me just as hard. I miss the old days.

I've been all over this country. Still saying shhhh to this day

I was born hard of hearing and didn’t get the medical care I needed until I was an adult and in charge of my own healthcare. And I would always fail the hearing screenings at school. But because Slug articulates so well, I would spend hours at home listening to Atmosphere albums and listening to one line at a time and writing down the lyrics. I would spend like an hour on each song because I’d play each line over and over until I figured out what he was saying. This is exactly how I learned to differentiate consonant sounds and was actually able to communicate with people. I know a lot of people say hip hop saved their life, and I can absolutely attest to that. Slug literally taught me fundamental communication skills, and I will forever be appreciative of him. 💜

I grew up 40 minutes north of Tulsa and I love that Atmosphere always hits the cities that don't usually get good shows. Slug and Ant are the people.

I'm from New York and I used to listen to atmosphere back in the day when he was first coming up... and I always used to imagine Minneapolis when he would make songs about it. It sounded like a cool place both literally and figuratively. He was really good at painting a picture. Representing your city is also an easy way to get your whole city on board and become a fan too. That's why he's popular in the midwest.
