i've had a tough time writing songs that i'm happy with for about a year now. i used to write constantly and have plenty of decent songs to show for it, but the past twelve months have been a struggle with me trying to cover new ground, find new words, create new sounds, never letting myself actually complete anything because i thought the first draft had to be perfect. it's probably why i felt the need to stop posting on here for a little while. but this year i want to let myself try new things and realize they aren't going to be flawless from the get go. i wrote this song in less than ten minutes two nights ago. it's not perfect, because of course, nothing is. but it's something. i like this song and i hope you do too. x
