These singers who had unique voices...who didn't try to sound like someone else...they only competed against themselves (so to speak). Their voices were different because they sang from the soul...from the heart...not trying to appeal to anyone over trying to appeal to who mattered...the love they sang to. No one seems to know what that means today. Why?

I was 17 year's old when this song was made and it reminds me of my boyfriend at the time his name was Toby we lived in the same neighborhood and and Everytime I would know that he was close to my house coming to see me I would hear this song blasting on his jute box that's what the guys carried back then I miss him but sadly a tragedy happened and he is no longer on Earth. May God rest his soul. But it was all fun while it lasted. And I still love him .

I remember playing this song over and over back when I was so young and in love for real! ❤️
Why?

The man was all in with this one. "If you want to know how long, our love will last, this universe will pass, that's just how long... just how strong I'll be loving you". That verse gives me chills.
Yes!!! Atlantic Starr was part of the soundtrack of my college years! No party ended without they're slow jams being played 😅

Our generation, growing up 70's 80's had the best, I mean we had the best music, creativity, we actually would groomed by real true players. Today who can find one? With this one "Closer", all I had to do was get a girl to come over, after a few shots of the Korbel my pops used to keep, and a little con-versation, by the time this song would be over.......Hands Everywhere!
Still Listening 🍷💯 2020

Ms Tee I’m listening too, Ms Tee March 20, 2020. Soulful music you don’t hear anymore. Old school R&B, Marvin, Chaka, Smokey, Whitney, Alexander O’Neill, Spinners, Champagne, so many, those days are gone but the music remains.❤️

Waking up for tonight's moon dance. Looking forward to being close. How could I not see you? Standing still unto each word, feeling it's meaning. Traveling to be close. Warm of the sun can't ease your embrace. Hands bonded, smiling over there clouds. Just be close. Smile

You have a beautiful name! My daughter was born in 1983 I was going to name her Nhyjheree’ after the nation of Nigeria and because her heritage is African American. I named her Tiffani when I saw her but I loved the first name and one a my good friends named her first daughter Shauntay Monique and her second daughter, Nhyjheree’. Your Momma had wonderful taste in naming you. 🥰
