ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK - SCAM ARTISTS, CASINOS AND A DEAD MALL!
Come Sail with The Philly Captain as he and his family go walking the boardwalk in Atlantic City. The walk starts off at the hard rock, where we see a car owned by Elvis and guitars used by Jimi Hendricks. Take a walk down the steel pier and we take a few steps on the beach. Walk through a dead mall with an amazing view and we end our walk showing you a scam.

A lot of people are always saying how terrible AC is. Like it's this horrific place. AC is no worse than any other major touristy city around the U.S and even the world. You could view and say the same about all of them to be quite honest. They all have good and bad. That's just a part of life. You can't have the good without the bad. No place is perfect.

That's where you're wrong. You absolutely can have the good without the bad. Unfortunately Atlantic City is just a corrupt shit hole. NYC was safe. It was the safest city in the world until deBlasio took over and Adam's has continued that. Soft on crime, lack of prosecutions, cashless bail, lack of preventive policing thanks to policy changes. Giuliani and Bloomberg ran NYC nicely. It was very safe. So you're wrong.

Not true. 95% of all pharmaceuticals are made within an hour of AC and they all dump waste in the ocean. You might not ever be able to have kids if you swim in that water. If you walk on the beach barefoot you run the risk of getting a needle stabbing you in the foot. Then you might have some disease from a drug user.
I am 70 this year ! Spent many days on the Steel Pier as a little boy ! Looks like all outdoor rides now ! Their were a lot of indoor buildings before ,with indoor attractions ! I saw Little Stevie Wonder , they had a weekly indoor TV Dance Show Broadcast , The BEATLES even Played There ! Saw the Diving Horse and the Clown Water Show at the End of the Pier Many Many times ! They had more than one horse ! Nobody Pushed the horse off , it Would jump off on its own after looking down ! There was a Diving Bell that you could go down in the water , that was Cool ! So many things to do ,NOT JUST RIDES ! To Bad All That Seems To Be Gone !

Do you remember the lady turned into an ape? She would shake the cage and the lock would fall off and everyone would run out. One of the first scams. Lolol
I loved the old Showboat casino! They gave me many a free nights stay. Its the only casino that I came out ahead, lol. Love your videos Cap!

Mason needs to lean into being the villain of the vlog. 😂 Call you Pops, wear a Mets hat, borrowing money etc 😂
New Jersey should be embarrassed that Atlantic City is the way it is now, there’s no reason Atlantic City shouldn’t be more like Ocean City Maryland or even the Jersey Shore. They’ve let that place fall apart and it’s all because of the way the states government has run it into the ground.

I miss Atlantic City as a kid in the 90s. My parents would go to the casinos and I went to the mall when is was called Ocean One. Stopped by the store in the front called "Giggles" and bought pogs, basketball cards in the hobby shop and spent hours at the arcade playing Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. Sad to see AC not thriving as much as it did before
That Playground area you were walking around with the great view used to be the Ocean One Mall and all those restaurants up on the top floor used to be a very busy area. I don't think the retail stores every did great business but there was an Apple Store back when it was the Ocean One Mall. They sold the Mall and it became the Playground more geared towards bars and nightlife with bands etc., but never really took off. Now it is supposed to become a Movie Studio but not sure if that deal fell thru because I do not see any activity and well since you walk thru they certainly haven't begun any activity to convert it to a Movie Studio. I like that you are switching it up with a trip to Atlantic City. I always remember the beaches at Atlantic City being really small and not much sand area. We always spent the summers in Wildwood where the beaches use to be a mile long or at least it seemed to be that long. I think even the Wildwood Beaches have become smaller but still way bigger than Atlantic City. Lastly, yes definitely a Merry Go Round. Let's Keep the Carousel in the Movies and Broadway Shows.
Atlantic City used to be known as the lungs of Philadelphia. That mall was wiped out by the outlet stores, just off the boardwalk. A film studio, I believe operates in it now. A merry go round is at a school yard or a playground. A carousel has the horses on it. Usually on a boardwalk, or fair. There's a Dave and Busters off the boardwalk near Caesars. DO AC!

Still no reason why a nice place like that shouldn’t be thriving, The state government ran it into the ground, I see this and don’t understand why it can’t be just like Ocean city Maryland, there’s so many people in OCean city Maryland that you can’t even walk down the boardwalk.
Atlantic City Pop Festival 1969, 2 weeks before Woodstock. 3 days long. Janis Joplin, CCR, most of all the bands at Woodstock ✌️❤️🎶

That's preety depressing about that mall! The fountain show was really cool and they used to have some really nice high end stores and restaurants! Loved the view up top over the beach! Sad to see what is is now, I guess all the outlets killed their businesses! Thanks for Sharing!
Thanks Capt for making this content brings me back in time as it's been about 15 years since I've been to Atlantic City and my parents brought me there almost every summer growing up until they experienced Vegas. 🎉
Awesome videos as always👍🏽👍🏽. I haven’t been to AC in so but now I just took a virtual trip there thanks to the Cap🙌🏽
Fun fact about the high dive horse at Steel Peir, one of the riders was Sarah Detwiler Hart, wife of the late great Gene Hart and mother of Lauren Hart
Every year from the late 80s to early 2000s, I'd visit the AC boardwalk . Used to love goojt to that 99c store, Ocean One Mall, and my favorite shop was a tshirt place called Rainbow Tees.
Nice visit.
Thanks for the video. Sure has changed since my visits in the 60s and 70s.
i love it there and go every year....thanks for the video!
Atlantic City was fashionable around 1880. It had a comeback around 1977, but that faded too.

It was fine for decades after the 80's as well. I know a few family stories before they tore everything down to build parking garages.
Hey Philly Captain, great video with your Misses C, Jules & Mason in Atlantic City, NJ..Free beach, boardwalk, casino, and more..TOODLES..
I went to the showboat for a vacation with my folks last year! Very cool! 😄
We still have the Seward Johnson statues in Mayfair Jon. Nine of them! They are scattered all along Frankford Avenue and they will be here until the end of September. Thanks for the shout out!
Thanks Captain!!! 😊
That dead mall used to be The Ocean One Mall. In the 80s and early 90s, I basically lived there as a kid. I hate what it is now.
Very cool - I havnt been to A/C in over 10 years. It was nice to see it still hustling and bustling a bit. Even though the casinos are getting fewer and fewer aye?
Thanks for the awesome video that place was awesome I enjoyed watching
I used to love AC when it was the only casino destination on the East Coast. No need to go now. The Claridge, the Sands, and Ballys were the bomb!
Here we are!!!
Great video. Just left Atlantic City as it seemed busy this July 4th week. I sure do remember the fountain light show toward the back. Still great views. I never go there at Ocean Pier mall. Stay at Tropicana where there is a lot happening. Enjoy! 🇺🇸🎡🏖️🙋🏻♀️😎
WOW! I haven’t been to AC in years I can’t believe all that was there is gone…I’ve been to the mall when it had the fountain and it actually had stores and I can’t believe that Ballys Wild West is gone…Me and my husband had a lot of great times there
The pier mask was awesome! Work the ladder light water show and the observation deck out back it was beautiful!
Thanks for this! I wanted to do a day trip here. I hate what has happened to the malls everywhere. You were recently at the Berkshire mall and it’s sad how that has declined.

Used to love that mall, AC will always hold a place in my heart
Omg Jon those segments with Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan on the boardwalk promoting Wrestlemania were classic. Anyway the boardwalk looks nice. Wasn’t it rundown for years
The cheapest buffet on the boards was by Bally's up the escalator to second floor it was $8.....if remember it was garden buffet.
Your Taking me back to. I loved AC
Many fond memories of AC! Would love to sit down with the Captain over a few beers and talk about the good times at the shore and watching the Phillies.

In Detroit we say merry go round. We also say pop not soda, and sucker not lollipop.
It's not gonna be dead on July 25th-28th when they're hosting the Atlantic City Celebrity Convention ❤
Its absolutely a merry go round.
I am from here, only 10 minutes from Atlantic City and I will tell you, outside of the casinos and the boardwalk/beaches, the streets are not a very safe place to be, a lot of robberies, shootings, prostitution, and drug dealings. It's even worse at night! it's a shame how bad it has become over the years. I used to enjoy it when I was a young teenager, going uto the beaches with my friends, and I felt much safer then, but now you have to be very aware of your surroundings when you are there, and don't trust anyone, there are a lot of scammers on the boardwalks and the streets, they're always trying to sell you something that is either fake or Stolen, so be aware. you'll also notice a lot of homelessness on the streets and the boardwalk. Of course that is everywhere these days. Oh, and around here, I have always heard everyone, including myself, call that ride, a carousel. Sorry! 😊
Merry Go Around!
I already have been to Atlantic City for a couple times back when I was a kid. This place is good but sometimes, it’s been struggling for years.
17:37 ,they also filmed alot of Boardwalk Empire in the Port Richmond area of Staten Island, including my friends old bodyshop which use to be a old Mack truck dealership....they was Dumbfounded when scouting & seen all the original time period vehicles inside & wanted to use them as well....they used alot of old buildings in that area
Thanks!
Actually the largest Ferris wheel in NJ is the one at the American Dream mall, NOT the one in AC
It’s a merry-go-round….. people who say Carousel probably say Philadelphia Mills
Irish pub great food and great beer to wash it down with

I did not know about showboat not being a casino I would walk past on my way to hard rock I went to showboat when they had bowling lanes and actually went bowling a couple of times. Maybe 20 or more years ago. My wife says let’s go Mets, I disagree I belong to Yankees nation.
Everytime I go there it's packed. Yes it's changed but I still have a good time! What in this world hasn't. There's nothing like it used to be.
Damn I like that mall and i sure as hell love it when was ocean one back in day good food games in early 2000s it was money 🤑 back then
Great video...city ain't what it used to be but the Hard Rock is a nice casino...inside!
I went to Atlantic city last year with my mom we spent a day on the boardwalk
50 years ago, I'd hop on a bus in Haddon Heights and go to AC for the day. My parents would have had a fit if they knew. I was 10 years old. Meet some very "interesting" people too. Still like it over other shore destinations 😊
Go Phillies!!!!

Been there and stayed at Oceans Casino Resort. Its a nice place. AC Boardwalk at night isnt safe. We would go to Ocean City NJ or Wildwood. It's Sugar is my favorite store on the AC Boardwalk
I remember going there in the 90s and having fun and getting a free parking spot and free room..The 11 casinos completed and slowly the rest of the country built their own casinos. No one but locals from the area drive to this place now.
6:00 ,my dog 🐕 loves going under the steel pier ,i like going under it during violent storms the waves 🌊are awesome, looks like a toilet bowl 🚽 flushing.....there is also a cool Mr Peanut graffiti painting down there on one of the post

Nice video, by the way The mall is a movie studio now
The mall is now leased by AC1 Production Studios, the vacant stores are used for on location movie productions
Merry go round
I can’t believe how blue the water was. To me it’s a merry-go- round.
Everything always changes and nothing good last for long that mall looked like our mall (except much smaller) mostly empty now they opened a casino in our dying mall in upstate NY . Again no reason to go to Atlantic City about 4 hrs away when there’s a casino a mile down the road to lose your money !
Academy Bus used to offer service from port authority NY to the Tropicana Hotel. No more. Tropicana used to be the place. Mid week hotel rooms wer under 99 bucks.
Are the fortune teller shops still there?
Staying in the hard rock today. To bad I did not see you.
Can you still get out on the back decks at the mall? Used to be some great restaraunts in there. SAD,
What software are you using for editing?
I live in NJ about 45 minutes away. I call it a merry go round. Only been to Ocean City boardwalk once this season. Haven’t been to AC since going to Resorts in February for a show. Enjoying the AC content.
Haven't been back to (AC) since 1990,....We were always told to not venture off the Boardwalk,.....anything change....!!?
Seems like that mall on the pier just has bad luck. I was there before covid and there was a very nice crowd there. No doubt there will be an effort to put something else in there soon. You must be down there on a weekday because the crowds are not that big. Although things get going after Memorial Day down at the shore, it's not until July that things really pick up. Still the really large crowds come down on the weekends. The whole thing with the weekends tells me that AC and most of the Jershey shore still relies on Philly and NYC for their crowds. I will be down there next week and I don't expect the big crowds until Fri or Saturday. There's pro's and con's to having big crowds vs small crowds. I am going to stay at the Tropicana and Caesars. It's hard to believe but I have never stayed at the two best which are the Borgata and Ocean....
Great narration. I could smell the weed and fried food through my TV.
Let me get the F*%K outta here!😂😂😂... love that!!!

There is a shop that has knock off Phillies hats in all colors 5 for like $60. I think I picked up all the different color Phillies hats at that store
So OC is Jazz cigarettes friendly. I live in MD and our whole state is recreational legal.
You are right, merry-go-rounds have only horses, a carousel has animals and horses

carousel and mary-go-rounds are two different things and it revolves (pun intented) around what you ride on. if it is only horses it's a carousel but if there are other animals or objects that are rideable it's a mary-go-round.
