Thank you for doing these videos. You were ahead of the times. 7 years ago hardly anyone was filming while driving with narration, now everyone is doing it.

Hello, i stayed in Athlone ( Bower Villas) during july 84 and 85. The families (especially Mrs Julia Kiernan) who hosted me, were charming and the people very friendly. I met a group of students from Spain too and spent an unforgettable summer in Athlone. Thank you for this video that allows me to remember all this. I wish i"ll go back one day Thanks again :) (a grateful frenchman)

I Knew Julia she was a lady and a great character.. she died in December 2021

Thanks Joseph nice to be able to see the old place again haven't been in Athlone since 2009 when my poor dear much missed old mum Mary who died in 2013 came back to live in London due to her age and health,Mum used to live in Canal Banks and my poor old stepdad Peter who died in 2000 used to have a shed at the back of Walsh's bar where he fixed lawn mowers and kettles and the like he was known as The Leprechaun.

Athlone is a gorgeous idyllic town. I lived there for a while and keep many good memories.

the connacht side of the town calls itself COUNTY ROSCOMMON. how can that be? they are still athlonians at heart. it is in leinster, surely?

Have of athlone is geographically situated in Co Roscommon and the other half in Co Westmeath, and the same , half and half between Connaught and Leinster.

U went by my house :)

When you get to Monksland your In county Roscommon Not Westmeath.

why is the town not called Lewinsfordtown, the correct name in english. in irish, of course, it is called Ballyblawlewin. not luan but LEWIN. TWO SYLLABLES. lew-in. as in Lewis!!
