Visit Athlone in County Westmeath with us! We are taking you to Athlone Ireland day trip, at the very centre of Ireland, where you're in the heart of it all. The perfect base to enjoy, explore and escape! We visit oldest pub in he world, Athlone Castle, test local Guinness quality and much more.
Athlone Town is located in County Westmeath on the banks of the River Shannon, Ireland's longest River. It's a great location for people who want to cruise the Shannon.
The medieval Athlone Castle offers views from its battlements, plus displays on local history. South of town, along the River Shannon, the early Christian ruins of Clonmacnoise include a cathedral and 7 churches. To the north, vast Lough Ree is dotted with islands, some housing monastic ruins. Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park has a ring fort, a forge and rich birdlife.

Join us on our little day trip to Athlone, Co Westmeath, just an hour and a half outside Galway city. We just had to see the oldest pub in Ireland with our own four eyes 👀 😅. Was it a 👍 or a 👎 keep watching to find out.. I will tell you this, the toasted sandwiche from The Bailey Bar was a 💯% 🤤🥪 😂 I’d go for that rather then visiting the oldest bar in Europe. 😂🙈 Happy Sunday everyone and see you all in the next one, we’ll be tuning in from Croatia. I'm one of the elves that lived in the little house you stood in front of.. I can vouch is small. That street is supposedly the old stables part of the castle hence the small size of the houses.... Nice video...

We were in Sean's Bar last week on a Friday evening (twice!). Got served straight away both times and got the impression we were the only tourists there - so definitely worth trying.
about the Seans bar, you had to pass the bar and at the end is a door and another area, after that there is one more area so if you went you might find place to sit. Usually people like to stay around the bar but there is plenty of spaces in the other areas. It’s pretty big place actually, we also tough it’s tiny until we went to the end to find that you are going from one area to another and so on. Nice video

Yes, more day trips! I always go for day trips out to Connemara, you really cant beat places like Dogs Bay or Loch Na Fooey on a nice sunny day

I use Dji Mini 2. There is no need for registration as long as your drone is under 250g in weight.

I think it was city link but I’m not 100% sure.
Guys crops and cereals etc are grown in the East of Ireland,more sun and less rain there and better soil 😝

Do you remember how much time you needed to visit the whole town? How many hours did your trip last? What time did you choose the buses? :) I'm going to go on a trip tomorrow, but I'm not sure which return bus to take :)

We took 10am bus from Galway and 5:55pm (something like that) to get back. Everything in between was sightseeing and walking around. Hope you have a great time!

As someone who will be taking the plunge and moving to Ireland relatively soon, I enjoy and appreciate your videos. I do plan on making a trip there this fall.

So many people posting videos brainless videos just to get validation. Anyone can hold a phone , walk around and talk shite. Athlone has a very rich history and you talk about the castle and Seans Bar ? Painful to watch. Wait who is is going to tell me If I think I can do better then I should do it?
