Great britain includes England, scotland, wales and northern ireland. South Ireland is just Ireland

@kevlan1979 yeah, it depends on the sport or the event, in soccer all countries take part separatedly (northern ireland, ireland, england, scotland and wales), in rugby both ireland gather as one, in the olympics i have no idea what great britain includes besides the countries in that island, and if ireland is as it is on rugby or split like in soccer

DOPium!
english and american commentators really struggle to pronounce non anglo names and surnames.

I'm sure some non-English and American announcers have similar problems pronouncing English names and surnames.

@@normanlinden5786 No. They actually make the effort to learn their names, just as they learnt their language. This custom is not reciprocated by English/Americans generally

@@upthevilla4281 - I disagree. You can't make a generalized statement like that about every English/American announcer who covers an international sporting event.

@@normanlinden5786 i think generalisations miss out subtle differences yes. However the observation can be backed by the general english culture - where pronunciation of foreign names is a negligible worry. Unfair to call all british people to be dismissive of foreign sounding names yes as I know a few people who have gone through lengths to learn my name (i have a middle eastern name), but many people seemingly do not care about mispronounciation. And in most cases pronunciation of certain names can be challenging, and almost futile to learn if the tongue cannot master certain enunciations that are wholly foreign to the norm. I've had to shorten my name due to many people at work mispronouncing, or trying and mispronouncing. I don't have a problem with it tbf, as in some cases it can't be helped
"Spacha"? Frigging ignorant Britishit commentators. It is pronounced as SPAKA (written SPACCA) ... LOL! And he reads CERUTI as SERUTI instead of CHERUTI.
