Athenar is unchallenged. His musical knowledge and diversity is vast. And remember kids, even brutal death metal can trace it's origins back to the blues and classical.

There was poooooooser and conoe, but why didn't JDawg clean up the DyingFetus fan base with his automatic weapons?

Athenar: "The 90s. The Lean Years of Metal." Well said. Never heard anyone refer to those metal years like that. Awesome interview Dawg!

Since some people mentioned the worst cover of all time. I nominate Poison Idea- Feel The Darkness as the greatest. Jerry A’s hand holding a gun to Tiny Tim’s head in a tastefully done black and white photo

Would love a podcast with Fenriz and Athenar. Their knowledge of the underground metal scene is probably unmatched.

The host talks more than the guest. Let your guest finish his sentences, man.

Athenar is a funny dude. Every time I see a video of him he's always got some funny stuff to say. Seems like a cool guy.

Old school Death Metal probably Altars of Madness for me. In 1989 or 90 I first heard the cassette....and my jaw was on the floor. Songs still really hold up today also. If I went to an MA concert and they played nothing but that entire first album, Id be happy af.

Now do a similar interview with King down in his basement abode, I wanna see lots of vinyl in milk crate and empty beer cans/bottles on the floor, with Bulldozer's Day of Wrath playing - not too loud, we still need to hear the lingo god damn it.🤘🏻

Deicide is definitely the greatest DM album, but oh man, how I love Legion. Also, Butchered by CC is my favorite from them and definitely worth buying.

so many bands I never heard of getting into DM at 16 in 1996 I am still finding bands in 2023 and I am 44! First 3 bands I heard were Deicide ST, Cannibal Corpse the bleeding, and Immolation here in after. completely altered my music tastes.
