What!? No soundtrack!? For a Limited Edition jrpg? Thats crazy! At least everything else looked very nice.

I only recently got into Atelier and finished this game. I did find the whole alchemy thing quite enjoyable. The story for me started out slow, but it did picked up and got me interested once the whole Philuscha thing came into picture.

My assumption would be that there were copyright issues with the soundtrack, which is why it it’s not included in the western version. To me, the box that includes the keychain looks like it was originally designed to hold a CD. I don’t collect games but have had this problem with limited/deluxe DVD sets in the past.

Hi, actually, no, not copyright - I checked all that later, and then ofc once we got Ryza 2 and 3 the trend was confirmed. The little generic white cardboard holders are just that; all-purpose for extra padding, dividers and well, anything else. The unfortunate thing about the Ryza series is that it marked the beginning of separating out the soundtrack for purely commercial reasons. The soundtrack for Ryza 1 was officially released at retail the same day as the game's release date. The Atelier music has always been very good (Gust specialises in high-quality OSTs), and now this was seen as too valuable an asset for inclusion. Both Ryza 2 and 3 did not have the soundtrack included. What's more, with those two games we moved completely to the Japanese style Premium boxes. The first Ryza game still came in the customary size and quality of box and was a bit of an intermediate style LE. Hope that clarifies things further! The world of CEs and LEs has now become quite cut-throat, sadly. In a way, with that Ryza edition, we saw the beginning. However, just unboxing it at that point in time, I had ofc no idea of what would happen in the future ...
