I think she was speaking way too fast for them and throwing in way too much context for us American's watching. I think talking about Korean culture is how the guys are trained to answer a question when they don't know what to say. But they did amazing and Wooyoung did great leading the interview and Yunho's pitch was awesome! They did wonderfully!

hongjoong admitted once that when english interviewers asked too much and he didn’t understand, he’d just pick the words he did understood and build his reply off that loll, and i assume thats what the rest of ateez did too here which is smart😂

I think part of it was that the interviewer was also using American/English jargon. Like when she asked "did you see it in person" In Korean, you would use words like 직접 or 실물 which is closer to worlds like "directly" or "in reality." That's probably why some of the members misunderstood somethings

I'm a Dodgers fan and this video popped up on my recommendations. I admire their bravery in taking a chance at answering questions in English.

They did so well with what they could answer and did wonderfully! If anything, if she had cards written with what she was going to ask... the least they could have done was give the guys the questions ahead of time. Even a simple "Jongho, she's going to ask if you seen the Dodgers game in Korea." So he could have said "No/Yes and I'm so proud of Korean culture..." and somewhat answered the question followed by their practiced lines. But Wooyoung did great taking lead in that interview.

@mihikarow1994 their Grammy museum interview was fun because they had the foresight to add in a translator. These US outlets want the views from booking kpop artists but then don't think much about booking a translator. You could see she was disappointed that they couldn't answer everything, but that isn't their fault. This is where coughing up for a translator would have helped her get the answers she was looking for.

It was probably a local news spotlight, so their budget might not be able to accommodate a professional translator, but if they put out an atiny bulletin I would have done it for free 😅

I live for the way Wooyoung pronounces "Coachella", he gives it such a cute entonation. I'm so proud of them, look at Yunho being the coolest baseball player!

I’ve noticed that Woo is getting really good and a lot more confident with speaking English. I’m glad he took the lead with HJ and San not there. I think SH is also pretty good too. The entire group has improved so much especially Mingi!
