The “only gets better from here” at One day at a time is done by San actually

there was a bit of a drama regarding the be with you live stage. It was a fan voted song. The Korean fans present there wanted the song “WIN” to win while the international fans wanted “be with you”. So when they announced bwy as the winner, the live audience was SILENT (they cheered loudly when WIN was announced in 5th place). Ateez themselves looked quite shocked with the reaction and they talked about how jongho really wanted to perform this live but still, no cheers no claps whatsoever. I guess that also made their stress level spiked. Before the stage, hongjoong and mingi stressed that the vocal members sounded so good in practice it surprised them. I'm pretty sure they can nail it better given the right circumstances. That being said, this kind of ballad-y, vocal heavy song with minimum to zero backtrack is almost EXTINCT in kpop nowadays. I put my trust in ateez the next time they're gonna perform this live! 🤞

I agree with what you said about the live vocals. The performance wasn't their strongest but I know they can nail it. I think what happened was that since this was the first time they ever performed the song they were nervous. Ateez is a very performance-heavy group so just sitting and singing is probably something they are not used to. They also had little time to practice as this song was voted by atiny as the song they wanted to hear the most and I believe the voting closed a day or two before the showcase if I am not wrong. Also, the majority of people that voted for this song seemed to have been international fans rather than Korean fans. This is because when the song was announced to have won, the crowd did not react at all and the members addressed that by asking what was wrong to the crowd. So the lack of cheering could have also increased the nervousness they had.

Actually the sound was lacking, their earphones were not good too, even Seonghwa said that he ended crying and he apologize for his "mistakes". We all know that they can perform it live perfectly, but the sound quality wasn't good at all

And Be with you was actually one of the last songs they sang at the concert so I can definitely understand how tired they would be. But also I really loved this so much because in an industry like Kpop that wants everything to be overly perfect - want them to sound and look and move perfectly, with a straight face and a smile on their faces - and are scared of letting their groups sing live I appreciate something like this. Give me something real and raw, give me emotions. And they did and always do. I really teared up watching this 🖤

Good point! I’d just add that you can still deliver raw emotions with good breath support for every phrase is completed to its best potential. I hear you though.

Be With You is one of my favorite Ateez ballads I almost cried when I heard it it’s such a beautiful song I always get goosebumps when they retract the instruments and Seonghwa goes into falsetto and the ending harmonies were just a huge chef’s kiss

Lemon Tree is indeed originally by Fools Garden, Hongjoong only covered it with his own arrangement and added rap. I love this song so much, it brings me such nostalgia, I was so happy that he decided to cover it!

Seonghwa said that it was hard for him to sing sitting at that time. Probably because he's nervous, it's their first time singing Be With You live after all and that song is high.

​@@Koko3op New to your channel here. Marathoning your Ateez analysis and Yunho appreciation, though not in sequence. A couple of my favorite Yunho lines is Light and his first line in Dazzling Light that ends with a run.

There was actually many problems with the sound during the Be With You performance. Although Seongwha didn’t show it, he cried about how he did after the performance because it just didn’t play out how he wanted it to. They did amazing though, I love them sm

The date on the plate is actually the release date of the song :) although his birthday is closed- 07. Nov 1998. And I have read that the writer of the song wrote it after his partner died in a car crash. Apparently she drove into a - you guessed it! - lemon tree. I have adored this song so much as a kid, of course not knowing the story behind it, so when I saw my dude cover this I cried happy tears. It instantly became my favorite cover of his! 💛

My friends and I voted for Be With You in their poll! One of my fav songs. Yeosang’s deep voice and Mingi singing and all the harmonies. So beautiful! Thanks for explaining why the live performance was the way it was. That was insightful and got me thinking about how they sounded so good during their concerts, because they would have had more time to rehearse at the venue, their mics were adjusted better, and the setlist arrangement allowed them rest in between. ATEEZ BEST 4TH GEN VOCAL LINE PERIOD

Be with you is one of my favorite ateez song, that song has made me cry so many times and I still can't get over how beautiful it is... Also, I do agree with you that the live wasn't 100%. They sing live pretty much all the time, but I think they were nervous and the mic volumes were weird at the beginning so it could've been distracting. That is the only time they've sung that song live and it was voted the song Atiny's wanted to hear the most... that must have been a lot of pressure. They sound much more confident while singing songs like "Turbulence" and "Star 1117" , because they are in the set list of every concert. Finally, I love Hongjoong's covers... He works so hard and the results are always really cool!! Have you seen the other ones? My favorite will forever be "Numb" by Linkin Park cover, but "Lemon tree" is a close second

I see ATEEZ I click... I'd love to see ya react to more live ATEEZ... like when they covered Leave the Door Open, Stay (Kid Laroi & JB), any Immortal Songs performances or the collab song with Pentatonix....Another AMAZING Jongho performance was from the competition show "Kingdom" he covered IU's Love Poem with 2 other idols, it gives me goosebumps, it's so good! Theres just so much great ATEEZ content to get into tho

I reacted to all of Kingdom so it’s on my Patreon. I have seen Leave the door open a while ago off camera but I might rewatch. I remember wishing they had done it in the slow groove of the original.

Be With You was amongst many other songs in a poll to be performed live during a section (towards the end) of Ateez's fan showcase for their newest album The World Ep 1: Movement I'm so glad Be With You won, since it was their first time singing this song live (Jongho expressed that he also wanted to sing this song live) :D

Yay more ATEEZ! So yeah. You'll want to catch Celebrate, which has an MV, if you haven't already (and I feel like you have, but anyway). I'm always amazed at how well they pull things off, and I agree completely that they need to be standing more. Bring out the mic stands, guys, and let's have vocalTEEZ go nuts. After this most recent comeback, and in listening to their discography in general (as I do now, rather religiously), I recognize more and more the immense talent that is their producer, EDEN. Where most groups would use synthesized strings, he actually went out and recorded the strings (not sure if he did for Be With You, but did for their Kingdom performance, which would be the one time you'd think they wouldn't go there!). He's an immensely talented person, and he's surrounded himself with other immensely talented people who are just taking things to the next level with him. He's also mentoring the members, and there's so much value to that, and having that influence. Love them so much.

Such a joy to come home from work and see this reaction. I agree with you on the decreased emphasis on live vocals in kpop lately. So many times I find myself wishing that groups would perform their backing vocals and ad libs live. This is especially true for Ateez because they have the vocal skills to do it well.

I love their b sides. So many have great meaning. For the live, they may have added a slight echo through the mic. They were more comfortable singing Not Too Late for Streaming Culture probably because it wasn't their first time singing it live. I highly recommend it.

Actually they where having problems with the microphones and earpieces. Even San had to take his earpiece and Seongwha was hurt from his ear because of the loud shock he got from his earpiece. But even when they go through things they still nailed it. What is so great they are one of the kpop groups that sing live almost all the time. Jongho said it's there pride to be able to sing live. They continually show us that there vocals are live and are not lip singing.

Damn, how did I miss his cover of Lemon Tree? he made it into a ska song

I think the volume of the sound and mics were pretty loud so they created like a reverb or something, you can search fancams tho it doesn't change that much, but yes it was too loud! Also for the rest of songs, the speakers like you said don't let you hear the sounds better and the mix, same in the Hj cover I think you missed the instrumental and harmonies at the back. They definitely have to be listened with headphones! Super good, you will love them specially Take me home and Be with you gosh they are so beautiful😍 Also yes Hongjoong cover was arranged by him(he always does it for his covers) and the help of 2 producers for the instruments, also Maddox sang with him the chorus! Many of his ideas like always are incorporated in the mv like the the set, his make up, the yellow filter(when he says norae , it means song but also the word yellow and matches with the lemon so he had that idea :D) and even printed and painted with spray the car plate to put the date the original was released

I enjoy Yunho's voice so much as well. I kind of slept on him I guess, but he has a really nice tone on CD and live that's very consistent. The saxophone at the end of "Take Me Home" 🤌🤌🤌

i loved hearing your input about live vocals and where that gets placed in priority for most performance-based kpop groups, and i think your commentary in addition to the context of the whole voting situation-short prep time-1st time performing it made me appreciate that live stage so much more than i already did, so i'm super thankful for how you expanded my perspective on that, and for appreciating their efforts as you did! be with you is such a beautiful song, and i'm so glad it really appealed to you! :)

With the lemon tree song I think it’s a metaphor for like saying life is sour or just bad . Going back to the saying when life gives you lemons u make lemonade . Well life gave him a lemon tree and I guess the personas perspective is very pessimistic because he has the lemons but can’t make lemonade. Another example from the lyrics is like he has a car but drive without a destination. Probs the song is about having it all but being stuck. He’s also has a house that looks like he has everything to others but to him can be a prison. The song is just to showcase the point that happiness is relative. But I’m just guessing tho this is my first time listening to the song with you. I literally don’t know if I make sense

The Japanese version sung live of Still Here is a favorite of mine.

Take Me Home gives me In Your Eyes by The Weeknd for some reason. Theres also an English version of Take Me Home if you wanna listen to it on your own.😊 One Day at a Time is such a beautiful song, I’m so glad you reacted to my recommendations 😀

They were kind of surprised with this song. It was a fan choice at their showcase. I’m not sure how much they had practiced it since they originally recorded it. It was a song JongHo said he had wanted to perform live for Atiny, which is why we voted for it for him 🥰 Also, ATEEZ always sings live. Always. It’s the music shows that don’t turn their mics up enough or on at all etc. it’s a constant problem

this in my fav song of them. i love wonderland , answer and guerilla, but this one is melted my little heart! their voice are a balm for our ears. beautiful. the music, voice, sub-vocals everything so perfect. and Seonghwa...omg!! no words for this men , rather than perfection!

I predicted you'd love "Be With You" knowing your penchant for ballads--it is one of my favorite ATEEZ songs. "Not Too Late" is another of my favorite ballads. It isn't a ballad but "Mist" is a not well-known B-side but is worth listening to and highlights Wooyoung's voice in a way that doesn't happen all that often. I used to think ATEEZ was "too edgy" for me but one of my daughters pulled me in with their vocals and I'm seeing them in Canada Dec 2022! By the way, I may have missed it but have you reacted to A.C.E covers such as "Empty Space?" A.C.E's vocals, especially their live vocals, are amazing and if you don't know about them, you're missing out. Their cover of Blackpink's "How You Like That," as I heard someone say, turned that song into "baby-making music" cause they made it so sultry!

Honestly with how much lip syncing and cover tracks are done in performances, I love seeing them be a little shaky. It’s more realistic and earnest, and ATEEZ goes so hard for their performances I totally agree they were probably just worn out

Am i the only one who thought Be With You could be a Korean Drama OST? I imagined a really tragic story between friends.

I love “Be with you” so much better than “Win” so I guess it’s because I’m an international fan! 😊 I tried to find them singing live other than the one live video they had but I found nothing. It was the rare time that Jongho sounded pitchy like something was off….now I realized it must have been the mic issues.

I would love to suggest their cover of stay and leave the door open pls🙏
