AT95E: Installation and Wiring

Музыка

I've changed many different Turntable Cartridges over the years, and the AT95E is the most difficult one I have come across. Hopefully this video will help you if you are finding the same thing.

I wanted to set up a separate head shell / AT95E cartridge for 78 rpm records; your video was a big help. Took me a couple hours; the round nuts are a bit of a pain, but got it done. Thanks again!

Thanks! I just have installed AT95E into Rega Planar RP1 (RB100 tonearm). It was much more difficult to me to install it than in this video, since the RB100 tonerm doesn't have detachable headshell, the cartridge has to be mounted directly to the tonearm. Removing the stylus prior to the installation is definitely a good idea. I didn't do it, I just used stylus protection cover to protect it during installation, it was good that I didn't damage the stylus. But tweaking around with pliers, nuts and screws took me some time definitely. Good that finally I was successful.

Hi, Thanks so much for doing this video. I was pretty apprehensive about removing the stylus as I didn't want to break it. When I saw how to do it in this video, I felt much more comfortable doing it myself. Getting everything aligned exactly right took a while, but I finally got it. I was able to "eyeball" the air gap between the edge of the screw head and the headshell to make sure both sides were exactly the same. I'm not sure if that's the correct way, but it seemed to work for me. Regards, Tom

That cart's been out for over 30 year's. I have, might still have stereo magazines that featured high end turntables & that cartridge was installed on most of them to test the tables performance...and they still sell it...

hello there! What kind of wires are used here? I have a damn Philips Phonola and the AT95 doesn't fit the headshell just for 1mm. Whit these wires i could solve the problem, maybe!

Hi, I have the screws tightened towards the middle instead of at the end of the headshell, is that okay?

Oh yeah for sure. Depends on the length of your tonearm. That’s why there slots are made that way

Don't see why it would be so difficult, it's built like most cartridges...

Nothing really difficult about that at all. Fiddly perhaps, especially if you have larger fingers but otherwise, no difference to any other cartridge installation.

🤣Jesus at least make an effort. Great tip on setting tracking force. Toggle weight uselessly back and forth. Beginners will love that.
