@ adamkain9941 All county sheriffs are elected by the people of that county. There are several counties in each US state. The sheriff's subordinates, who are called Deputies, are state civil service employees*** hired by the Sheriff's Dept. Sheriff departments are a suburban/rural thing. Municipalities have police forces, even if a municipality encompasses the entire county. For example, the 5 boroughs of NYC are actually 5 counties, but all of them are under the NYC Police and Fire departments and a single mayor, city council and judicial system. *** All civil servants are tied into the state's pension system.

Every county needs a sheriff as good as this guy who actually has law enforcement authority in their county. Most counties in the US have a sheriff's department but functionally all they do is run the county jail and shuttle prisoners around. All the real law enforcement is done by municipal cops lead by unelected, politically appointed police chiefs.

However, you did need ID, but I had lost my wallet the night before, and could not find it after looking for hours. We went anyway, (I travelled with a friend who had hitchhiked before) but we had a friend drop us off in Maine, just over the border. It was pretty chill in those days, and nobody asked for our ID, just the driver. I had arranged for my parents to mail my wallet to a friend in Eugene, Oregon in time for when I approached the border out west to reenter back into Canada, and to Vancouver. The whole time, I wasn't mischievous, or causing any trouble. We went to see the jazz festival in New Orleans, but only caught the last day. Everybody was kind, a few people kicked down meals. Some people offered small 1-2 hour labor jobs to earn some food. I picked up cigarette butts from a KFC parking lot for a meal. I'll never forget the sweet, working class couple who picked me up in Pensacola and gave me their half-eaten Styrofoam container of take-out. So many memories, would make a great coming of age movie. :D

He literally picked me up, drove me for over a hour to get me back near the city, ON HIS OWN, and then took me inside a store to buy me lunch. Salam :) I bear witness that there is no god besides Allah, and i bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, and that Jesus is His servant and messenger. Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Ali-Imran : 19 Behold, the only [true] religion in the sight of God is [man's] self-surrender unto Him; and those who were vouchsafed revelation aforetime took, out of mutual jealousy, to divergent views [on this point] only after knowledge [thereof] had come unto them. But as for him who denies the truth of God's messages - behold, God is swift in reckoning! 20 Thus, [O Prophet,] if they argue with thee, say, "I have surrendered my whole being unto God, and [so have] all who follow me!" - and ask those who have been vouchsafed revelation aforetime, as well as all unlettered people, "Have you [too] surrendered yourselves unto Him?" And if they surrender themselves unto Him, they are on the right path; but if they turn away - behold, thy duty is no more than to deliver the message: for God sees all that is in [the hearts of] His creatures. 21 Verily, as for those who deny the truth of God's messages, and slay the prophets against all right, and slay people who enjoin equity - announce unto them a grievous chastisement. 22 It is they whose works shall come to nought both in this world and in the life to come; and they shall have none to succour them. (Translated by Muhammad Asad) Islam is an arabic word that means Submission or Surrender to God the One and Only, and was the Religion descended to earth from heaven with Adam and Eve (peace and blessing be upon them) in the beginning of humanity. and was passed to people through the 124,000 prophets and 315 messengers of God to all nations and civilizations since, passing by Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Ismaël, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, Joshua, David, Solomon, Jesus, and the final messenger Muhammad (Peace and blessing be upon them). Many Religions that we know, at their beginning were true and under Islam, initiated by one of the prophets of God, but with the time, their original teachings and scriptures were corrupted with polytheism or lost and replaced with false ones. That's why God have sended the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) to correct the faith of humanity and cleanse it from corruptions and associating other beings to God the One and Only, because all beings are His creations. He is the Creator of the universe, the Master of the Day of judgement, where our destiny (Hell or Paradise) is decided based on our faith and deeds in this life and above all, Allah's mercy. That's why Islam is the only Religion accepted by God nowadays. Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Al-Anbiya (The prophets) : 107 And [thus, O Prophet,] We have sent thee as [an evidence of Our] grace towards all the worlds. 108 Say: “It has but been revealed unto me that your God is the One and Only God: will you, then, surrender yourselves unto Him?” 109 But if they turn away, say: “I have proclaimed this in equity unto all of you alike; but I do not know whether that [judgment] which you are promised [by God] is near or far [in time]. 110 “Verily, He knows all that is said openly, just as He [alone] knows all that you would conceal. 111 But [as for me,] I do not know whether, perchance, this [delay in God’s judgment] is but a trial for you, and a [merciful] respite for a while.” 112 Say: “O my Sustainer! Judge Thou in truth!” - and [say]: “Our Sustainer is the Most Gracious, the One whose aid is ever to be sought against all your [attempts at] defining [Him]!” (Translated by Muhammad Asad) And Allah the Most Merciful said in Surah Al-Baqarah : 256 THERE SHALL BE no coercion in matters of faith. Distinct has now become the right way from [the way of] error: hence, he who rejects the powers of evil and believes in God has indeed taken hold of a support most unfailing, which shall never give way: for God is all-hearing, all-knowing. 257 God is near unto those who have faith, taking them out of deep darkness into the light - whereas near unto those who are bent on denying the truth are the powers of evil that take them out of the light into darkness deep: it is they who are destined for the fire, therein to abide. (Translated by Muhammad Asad) Salam.

Yes, sadly those are few and far between here in the US. Where I live on the east coast, it’s basically all local police departments, lead by some unelected, appointed bureaucrat police chief, who only answers to the mayor’s office. As a result the police are basically like private security for rich people, and they all seem to think they can abuse their power and violate our rights, pushing regular working class citizens around. Fortunately it seems like many Americans are finally waking up from this “woke”nightmare of minority rule, extreme political correctness, and virtue signaling to the left, while clearly having a very different and very obvious agenda of curtailing our constitutional rights. I agree that seeing someone do his job well, and actually care about the impact he makes on his community gives me hope for the future of my country as well. Danke, alles Gute und Auf Wiedersehen.

@@CivilizedWarrior You sound more like what your definition of "woke" is here than you do as someone who actually supports police, FYI. You do know that "Woke" doesn't mean anything near what you are using it as in this long paragraph, right? What rights of yours have been taken by the police recently? I often find that those claiming their rights are being taking away more often that not do not have a clear understanding of what rights are afforded to them under the US Constitution. For instance, most of them feel their Free Speech rights automatically translate to whatever social media platform they use. Just an example. Secondly, it's not "Minority Rule." In fact, the last time a Republican president won the presidency by popular vote was in 2004 when GW Bush ran against Jonn Kerry, nearly 20 years ago. Democrats are also taking state elections away from republicans since 2018. Some would say that "MIGHT" be the Trump effect. Some beg to differ...who knows. Having said that, I do also believe corruption exists in police departments. I live in Oklahoma, a completely red state, and I think much of the same issues you experience in your state regarding your states police departments, exist here as well.

They didn't really say on camera what that was about; however, I got the idea that the original occupants of the car were being arrested, and that the Sheriff was impounding their vehicle. Since they were already there, the Sheriff asked Peter to drive that vehicle back and to follow him, rather than him having to call one of his other deputies or a tow truck in that remote area. Otherwise, there would be no reason for Peter to drive a second vehicle and to follow the Sheriff back to town. He just stopped the video at that point.

Illegals have been pouring into this country for 80 years, I don’t know why we pay for a Customs and immigration when they obviously accomplish nothing. No matter how civilians act, it is an officers duty to maintain order and to be an example of justice. But, ufortunately the way policing is set up, any one of these "awful people" can easily become a police officer hence why you have such incompetence these days amongst local forces.

The CIA was literally working with cartel and flying the shit it and using the money to buy arms to overthrow Iraq. Not different from how it's operating now. Meanwhile Regan was well aware and passing laws to imprison the people who used it. And had his pockets lined with privately owned prisons he was helping fill. It's corrupt. Now it's China bringing in Fentanyl. And our politicians are helping. Of course not all, but the higher they are the more they know and profit, other wise they'd be removed.
