Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a 1986 American teen comedy film written, co-produced and directed by John Hughes, and co-produced by Tom Jacobson. The film stars Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller, a high-school slacker who spends a day off from school, with Mia Sara and Alan Ruck. Ferris regularly "breaks the fourth wall" to explain techniques and inner thoughts.
Hughes wrote the screenplay in less than a week. Filming began in September 1985 and finished in November 1985. Featuring many landmarks, including the Sears Tower and the Art Institute of Chicago, the film was Hughes' love letter to Chicago: "I really wanted to capture as much of Chicago as I could. Not just in the architecture and landscape, but the spirit."
Released by Paramount Pictures on June 11, 1986, the film became one of the top-grossing films of the year, receiving $70.1 million over a $5.8 million budget, and was enthusiastically acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. In 2014, the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

Went to that museum a number of years ago and saw the painting Cameron stares at. It's a great place! Don't miss the miniature room!

The composition is entitled " A Sunday Afternoon on the island on Le Grand Jatte" by George Seurat...he was a leading figure in the impressionists movement...l seen Renoir, Picasso, Cezanne but never a Seurat; you're Sooo lucky...from London with Love ❤
The scene feels like the cut scene in a video game where the character becomes enlightened
This movie is so heartwarming, sad, fun and beautiful...

It's an underrated work of art. Truly moving.
I like how Ferris Bueller also kind of acts as a tour guide for the city of Chicago where John Hughes grew up. Sears Tower, downtown fine dining, a Cubs game, the art museum, etc. It is too bad what is happening to that city now but the 1980's were more sane times.

Anyone get excited in art class when we went over any of these paintings?
Going to this museum was one of the things I was most excited about when I moved to Chicago earlier this year. This has been one of my favorite movies ever since I was a kid. It's so funny to walk around the downtown area and see people with the Save Ferris Bueller shirts on even today,. will forever be an East coast guy but Chicago is pretty fantastic!

I just went with my Lidstrom 90's jersey on and ran into a girl with the leopard vest too! The artwork is impeccable and I have to come back because I didn't have two days to do it! It was much more exciting than the Van Gogh exhibit honestly!

@@PayneLive lol that’s pretty funny, it’s really amazing how this movie has stood the test of time especially here in Chicago. I live in the Lincoln Park area, they do movies in the park near me throughout the week and they played Ferris Bueller a few weeks ago, the park was completely packed, I couldn’t even find a place to sit, usually it’s not that bad, but like I said, the movie is very popular here in Chicago. If you’re visiting the city, have a wonderful time, I hope you get a chance to check out all the cool sites.

This song recently became popular after Backrooms creator Kane Pixels did a tribute video on the Julien Reverchon "Rolling Giant" from the Valley View Mall in Dallas, TX. I've never seen this film and I came here from Kane Pixels videos. I plan on watching this film soon for the first time as it does look good.

Me too, this is one of my favorite music
Just came back from Chicago and the painting Cameron looks at hit me like I’ve just arrived at a sacred place. When I saw it it felt like I’ve fulfilled a destiny that I forgot about ever since I first saw the movie on the bus home from an amazing band trip to Banff, the first of four such trips, 7 years ago.
Cameron's mind is blown

Like getting kicked in the chest everytime I see this scene and more the less every John Hughes movie.
Now that I’ve been to that museum. The only thing I can think about is that how the friends split up, it must have taken forever to find each other. My mom and I got lost just walking around, I can’t imagine trying to find someone in that place
This scene must be one of the most deeply thought provoking moments in film history 😊❤

A great cover of The Smiths original
This scene is all so sad. The movie is just a fantasy of a very lonely teenager- who isn't even the hero of his own fantasy. He sees himself in lonely child. Then suddenly it is loud and his hero is preforming his greatest antics, at a parade in the morning on a Tuesday.
The Howe scene still send shivers...Beautiful...
This is one of the best scenes in the movie. Absolutely wonderful. But watch it again on mute. While still charming and whimsical, it really highlights how much of an impact the instrumental version of the song "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" makes on the scene. The music is so perfect for this scene most audience members don't even realize how good it is.

It's 'Please please please let me get what I want this time'. Original song is by the English band, The Smiths - written by Johnny Marr and Morrissey. In the film scene here, is a re-working of the The Dream Academy's excellent version (also an English band), which is longer and more 'dreamy'.
I would go to that museum with Ferris, Sloane and my soulmate. The four of us would all kiss at 1:21. The four of us would have the best time of our lives.😎🥰❤️💙
