At The Border Of China - Kel Suu Lake In The Tian Shan Mountains

It was beautiful, serene, and no tourists! An adventure from the get go, you need a 4wd vehicle and a border permit as the Tian Shan mountain range borders China. Worth the drive. Our yurt camp was beautiful and we wished we had stayed 3 nights to explore more of the beautiful landscape.
It is best to go early season in spring time to see the glacial blue waters of the lake. Even when Kel Suu was dry the scenery was beautiful and inspiring.
Tip for Tash Rabat: Do your research beforehand there are no english signs or information when you get there. Overall very cool to see but underwhelming. Stay in Nayrn instead at a guest house and recharge.

Hello! May I know which month did you guys go to the lake? And which month would be good to go there for it to be full? And which tour agency (if you guys booked through one) did you guys go to to book the tours/visa for the lake? Thanks! :)

It's a bit of a shame because the pictures out there show the beautiful full lake. I guess the best time is to go very early season. But still so amazing to be there, our favourite spot we visited!

It`s not for the first time that I hear how the Europeans pronounce Tbilisi as Tiblisi? Is this name a real tongue-breaker?

It’s tough to say because in English we don’t really have T and B together so much unless combining two words into one. So it is more natural at a quick glance to think it would be Tib rather than Tbi and then it becomes a habit unless someone corrects you! Haha.
