Stealth tent site (1175.5) to Pine Grove, PA (mi. 1194.7) Started out as a grind of a day, but ended with many good fortunes. I made it to the Swatara hiker hostel by 11 am, which is new this year. It’s run by a husband and wife and they have a little boy and a little girl. They are trying to get it off the ground. They have a great location and he was very open to taking advice on what items to stock. I told him he definitely had to stock more pints of ice cream 😂 After that, I ran into a couple of through hikers who said there was trail magic ahead, but it was about 2 1/2 miles more than I was planning to do for the day, and heavy rains were looming. I made it to my planned shelter and it hadn’t started raining yet , so with help from my buddy Dave sending me constant radar updates, I decided to go for it and boy am I glad I did. I banged out the 2 1/2 extra miles and arrived at the trail magic (provided by @townshirt.co on Instagram) where there were about 15 through hikers ha ha. The food was unbelievable and they are doing breakfast there tomorrow morning as well. We all filled up, and they started to put stuff away as the drops started to fall. There was a small motel 4.2 miles away so I went into hitchhike mode and quickly got a ride. As soon as I got in the hotel room, the lights started to flicker, I was so glad I wasn’t outside in the tent. It looks like the weather will clear a bit for tomorrow, I will have a good nights sleep and get back to hitchhiking to hit that breakfast trail magic in the morning 👍🏻
Todays menu: Package of pop tarts, 2 snickers, package of peanut butter crackers, 2 plates of steak tips, a venison sausage in a hot dog roll, small bag of lays chips, s’mores granola bar, piece of watermelon, 12 oz. Gatorade, 20 oz. Hydration drink, can of 7-up, can of sprite, pint of ice cream, honey bun, 20 oz. Gatorade, can of root beer, can of Mt. dew, and water with Mio additive.
