TBF, he had SnV on crucial points with that serve so maybe the initial thought was he hit floater and Carlos was gonna hit a Easy volley, didn't realize he was gonna do the forehand instead and by the time he realized it was too late

It’s all in the core. He tosses the ball far left and makes an arc with his back in order to spin the ball wide and out. He’s also standing far left from where you’d normally stand for a serve which benefits into the overall angle placement.

That wasn’t a kick serve, that was a twist serve. Kick would continue going straight on the path, twist would turn outwards

It is the lack of regulation to control the pace at one plays his /her game...if the player had kept focus on returning the ball rather than trying to hit it back hard it would've been a slower but a return that he wanted and he would've come back for the counter as he knew he hit it slow...taking nothing away from that serve...it's high level of skill and a work of art...

That's a large part of where the kick comes from- I used to do the same when I was younger and had more core/back flexibility

He did it at his own risk of breaking his shoulder. It's not recommended on the part of rec players over 25 of age. Otherwise, tennis shall destroy your physical well-being.

…I don’t think he was at any risk of injury there. Plenty of people hit that type of serve and don’t end up injured. Sure, if you’re a rec player and not conditioned/don’t have good mechanics, don’t go for it. But I assure you, he can hit that serve a thousand times without “breaking his shoulder”
