I admire it when people have the balls to paint a room black. It's dramatic but at the same time intimate. Having a lot of windows in the room helps, of course. I wouldn't try it in my own under-windowed dining space.

You probably need a passion for _dusting_ in a room covered in lacquered black. I adore the look, but we have a cat. And dusting is a duty but not a pleasure to me. ;-)

What an incredible home this family has crafted! While luxurious and possibly seemingly opulent to some, what makes it special and aspirational is the intentionality and reverence for personal creativity and hospitality. Imagine one’s own home as quintessential for them. Well done to the Coopers - and to Quintessence!

I love the exterior color of the home. The laquer room is wonderful, all the mirrors reflecting the light from the windows keeps it interesting during the day. Macarons!

I am in love with this family and how beautifully they live and especially how they treat their guests during dinner parties. We are known for our dinners...using place cards may sound a bit too formal,.but it is useful that guests have the opportunity to meet and learn something new and is seated next to someone they didnt arrive with...😘😎🛍🛍🛍🎶🎼🥁I am obsessed with the salon and dining rooms... 😘😘

As some of the other viewers mentioned as well, I was also very excited to see a new quintessence video. This home is stunning. I am not a fan of too much color in a home but after seeing this video I am changing my opinion. Every room in this home is simply breathtaking. I love the yellow room; (what a gorgeous yellow) but my goodness the black dining room is so sophisticated and elegant looking. I also put postcards or beautiful pictures in my mirror. My grandmother used to do it and I have taken this habit from her. The placecards the owners use for their gorgeous table decorations are really unique. I noticed some lovely china on the table. There is such a lovely cozyness about this home. Vibrant colors combined with beautiful artwork and antique furniture. I loved the kitchen as well and the fact there is a large table in it to sit at. And what a beautiful garden it seems to be. Thank you for this lovely video.

God what an insanely gorgeous house! It’s like every room has its own history but it is equally clear that the present owners have clearly added their own imprint. Also the narrative by the owner is a nice touch. I’d love to see more like this

My heart leaps when I see something that I would personally never have the courage to do, for instance, lacquer a room black (the blue ceiling is another matter all together as I’ve done that magical hue a dozen times) and witness the remarkable, immediate impact it has on the senses! Beautiful home! LOVE the dining room.

I used to live up by the Capital Region (to be specific Saratoga County) and would drive into Columbia County on the weekends. I would occasionally visit the horse country around the Old Chatham. It’s an absolutely beautiful and peaceful area.

Oh I gasped at the room being introduced around the 3:21 mark. Unbelievably gorgeous, what a statement, what atmosphere! I love the intention of the design, knowing that it was conceived to be breathtakingly beautiful and sumptuous in the evening rather than at 11am. Thank you so much for this particularly inspirational one. Love it.

What a gorgeous home.In the early 80s ,I painted my ceiling blue and my boyfriend put up those glow in the dark planets!!I had forgotten about it .We loved it.😀

I love the black painted dining room with the gold accents and mirror. It's spectecular, cozy,dramatic and rich looking. The tablescape and decor is gorgeous. I really enjoyed the tour. Thanks for sharing.❤

I love older homes that have separate distinctive rooms. I really dislike open floor plans . It is so sad to see historic homes gutted , then reconstructed to accommodate the latest architectural fade. This is why I enjoy and am inspired by Quintessence.

First reaction was "Hmmm..a bit staged and self-congratulatorily 'precious', with sandal clad hipster overtones". But, if I was them I'd probably be pretty pleased with myself too! Might be all a bit over the top, but it certainly celebrates the art of living stylishly, with joy. 😏
