I found your channel while looking for what specific buttons are in this machine, because they're definitely different from what's in the ALU (I now have both). With all the reviews out there right now, you're the only one I've seen that really went inside the machine. Anyway I'm happy with mine but I definitely have some of your same issues with the interface and the poor haptic feedback, especially. I'll watch for when you upgrade that to get some ideas on how to do it myself. Probably just end up copying you, since I have no idea what I'm doing in a machine like this :)

Awesome vid sir. Super thorough and prob the most fair review I've seen of the LGP. Plenty of little design issues, and the eyesore that is atgames UI, the meh art, that butt-ugly black trim, small back glass, etc but still at 599 it was a steal - just not sure it still is at $750 + shipping (but Wave 5 sold out in 1min this morning so what do I know?).

the $750 includes all the zaccaria tables which are much better than the stock tables. but as mentioned, adding a PC and playing extra pinball thru vpx or fx3 makes it really worth it.

Very nice review of the Legend Pinball. When mentioning some of the flaws you can tell Atgames and they will really listen and because it has wifi it makes it really easy to update the firmware. Overall I think its the best pinball in the price range. I agree that AtGames needs to really concentrate on the outside art graphic on their cabs and the hardware that holds the screen could use some chrome. That's where Arcade 1UP is better. But if I was to buy a pinball in this price range I would definitely buy the Atgames Legend pinball.

great feedback! I do wished it looked a little better, but the hardware is definitely top notch for the price point and great for modders like me and our die hard retro arcade community. I have a hard time seeing this outselling A1ups if both of them were sitting side by side at a brick and mortar though. The casuals will appreciate A1ups more I think, but I like ALP for all its modding potential for sure

I just got one of these and they addressed some of these issues. The start is now the select in the game, which is more intuitive like Kongs says. The top monitor now has a traditional HDMI input, which is nice, especially if you are modding I would think. Haptics are still kind of weak, but better than nothing I guess. Still no substitute for the real thing, but for virtual pinball it's all right I guess.

Kongs-R-Us, Great review! Yeah, I also can't recommend the AtGames Legends Pinball at this time as my machine came with a backbox monitor that wouldn't function. This is my first AtGames product and it doesn't leave a good first impression. I immediately emailed AtGames support, which they were quite quick to get back with me. They had me do all the normal troubleshooting, reseat cables and such, but when they had me reseat the main backboard monitor cable to the motherboard, the piece that held the cable in on the motherboard instantly came off with the slightest touch. I could not get it to reattach (it's so tiny). Without that piece, the cable would no longer stay connected to the motherboard. They said they would need to send me a new motherboard and monitor cables, which sounded ok, but I would first have to send them back mine before they would send me a new one. That means no part of my pinball machine would be working while I wait (the main playfield worked fine). Plus, removing their motherboard was also SO COMPLICATED with it's MANY wires. When I had a PCB problem on an Arcade1up machine, Arcade1up sent me a replacement and let me keep the one I had until I received the new one (so I could at least keep playing the machine). So I'm a little disappointed with AtGames. I'm glad they are working with me and hope to see the new motherboard soon, but for now, I have a pinball machine-sized brick sitting in my game room. I hope in the future, companies can somehow figure out how to send out products that don't arrive broken, especially when there's no visible shipping damage to the box. vgv

I think it's worth it if you're the Gottlieb fan because not everybody is a fan of FX3 video game style Pinball. It's def worth over A1UP Pinball. I would mod with a tempt second screen and PC for now as atgames will have more add-ons in the future like solenoid. Pinball Emporium is a great option as it is a table pack install unlike Baller Installer which does not come with table pack initially.

Nice review. Like the honesty about not buying just for built in stuff. And really, are people buying AT Games products to play stock stuff? The leaderboards are cool feature, but the tables available are lackluster compared to community creations in Visual Pinball and some of the Future pinball tables. Still can decide on which to get and mod, or attempt a simple cab build. Decisions, decisions.

If A1up had a bigger screen and OTG out of the box I would say its a close call. My new ALP was $650 shipped with upgraded control panel, vibs, and bitpixel, and a few extra table packs.. Excellent review Mr. Kong! I agree, I also have no personal attachment to the graphic designs as well. I've played maybe 2-3 tables in the past on real cabs :) The included Gottlieb tables are ok, the latest firmware update did help the haptics significantly. However, 98% of the time I'm playing the add-on Zack packs which have better physics, game-play and just a more polished look overall (Black Belt/Future World 2018 being my current favs.) That said, for me, the issues are primarily software. Maintaining the last initials entered for the Gottlieb tables is a pain (unlike the Zac tables). It is my first vpin and I'm happy with the machine and overall experience. Definitely looking forward to where AtGames takes us in the future and experimenting with other options myself as well. Again, excellent review and thank you!

My wife watched this and was disgruntled lol. I explained to her "it was rougher back then" they definitely ironed out a lot of the kinks with this machine. The farsight tables are still lackluster and i'm sure that will never change since they appear to be ported from PinballArcade which is not the best anyway, but the Zaccaria and Tiato tables are a blast, looking forward to configuring with a PC and getting all the goodies! Idk if they updated the speakers but mine bump, can hear it downstairs clear as day on higher settings lol. Had it 2 days so far and carried it up the stairs myself (don't recommend lol) bought the $750 pack and paid $100 to ship, came with Zacc 1-4 and still feels worth it. I have to beg the wife to play the multicade but she's hooked on this thing immediately. Really solid cabinet build too, panels are thick. Haptics were poop until i updated firmware, now the bumpers and the drop targets THUMP but the ball roll and flipper rumble is weak. I think i can fix the flipper feedback with solenoids, seems easy enough. They really do need to program a sexy frontend for their products, idk why they don't it's not that difficult, other than that i really like mine so far, surpassed my hype levels.

What about the frame skipping issue in OTG mode? If they can't fix that via firmware, it is kind of worthless unless like a lot of disruptive frame skipping. Added- Or, gut it and use own hardware.

I haven't done enough of my own testing on the OTG frame skipping issue, but I'll be honest as a casual Vpin player, I havent noticed too much when playing a few of my VPX tables. I'm sure it would be similar to watching 4K TV, and going back to 1080p would be tough. But if you've never experienced 4k, you'd be happy with the 1080p. Since I haven't played a ton of Vpin in full 60FPS, it's hard to notice the frame skipping issue personally, but ive seen videos and hope they can address it.

Rumbling panel sound is still present. Had to do the sound adj settings to fix it, but someone said they inserted foam in between glass and panel to fix it. The painting is all about the technique.. I saw rattle cans and metal needs to be primed first. Painting in direct sun is a huge no. That metal with soak heat fast and crack paint and improper dry it. Plus other factors like heat, paint type, hardener and whatever. I'm actually in middle redoing completely rusted legs on a 1983 Bally pin restoration. Clear coat via can tomorrow and hand painting legs and bolts after (metallic gold). It took 5 hours on polishing wheels, grinders and prepping, plus a good week for paint curing, etc. You can get the results you want but takes patience and some online googling imgur.com/a/oJwG4bl Also in mid project vinyl wrapping my car entirely, the "fingerings" on your vinyl rails are avoided laying it vertically first and a touch of heat gun let it flap over. The wrinkles were caused by tension (pulling). *You can tell I lost my 18 year tech job via plant closure, and i'm doing all these odd projects now while learning before landing a new job 😅

Ultimately, it depends on what you're looking for. If you like zen/pinballFx3 style games, and you don't want to do any modding, A1up is a great machine and easier to use. Legends Pinball has 22 built in goetlieb classic tables, and additional expandability to purchase more plus lots of moddind potential. Looks and UI are the biggest downsides of the ALP

I hate the UI on the AtGames products. I have the Legends Gamer Pro. I hacked it with the CoinopsX thinking it would be a cool device that the whole family could enjoy, or that I could use to impress my friends. But the UI is terrible. It's overly complicated, unresponsive, and just a pain to use. It has so many cool games that I added, but I don't even bother touching it because it takes like 10 minutes just to get it working. Pairing the device with the puck is also a pain. It doesn't always pair with the console. So I have to unplug the flash drive, use a usb cable to sync the control panel with the puck, then plug in the flash drive again, mount it again, and go through the terrible UI to load the CoinopsX app. I would like to be able to recommend the device to others, or just lend it to my relatives. But there is no way they would be able to figure out how to use it. Huge waste of money. And the built in games are complete trash.

  • @KongsRUs

hey Kevgret, appreciate the comments! I do plan to do a full comparison on both as they both have issues. With A1up, I mostly had issues with the monitors and graphics but out of the box, the design/chrome, graphics, UI, haptics, and "name brand" tables are better IMO. You're stuck with those tables unless you mod it, but the overall experience I feel would be better for the casual pinball fan. For ALP, I have issues out of the box with the design/non-chrome, graphics, haptics, UI, and gameplay of the 22 Gottlieb tables (although the update fixed most of my issues). The pros are the larger playfield, dynamic backglass, connected gaming features, and modding potential. But for the casual fan, you have to buy the zaccarria packs to experience the best of ALP. I think there's a market for both honestly, but first impressions weighed heavily on me in both my reviews. thanks for checking it out and giving your feedback!
