Bob Dylan has been my inspiration for as long as I remember. I've seen him live playing in London. A concert I'll never forget. I'm 73 now and am so proud to have had him in my life all these years. Sadly my husband isn't a fan so I play Bob's music when he's not around. It's a bit like having a secret affair!!! 😊. Long may it last. ❤

WOW! thanks SO MUCH for this documentary of a monumental life! Being a fan of Dylan since 1963 when my neighbor's dad played "Freewheelin" for the neighbor kids -- I was GodSmacked at a young age by his genius. I have bought most of his albums and seen all the Bay Area concerts I could -- San Jose was the first -- 1965 when he started his acoustic set then brought out Mike Bloomfield on guitar and Al Kooper on organ. NOBODY in our West Coast audience booed-- we shouted and clapped and sang along. Later albums I loved had the love songs to his wife SARAH! Also, his versions of old British & American folk songs. His long and varied life in Music/Songwriting certainly did deserve the 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature

In 1965 I saw Dylan's live concert at the Newport Folk Music festival, where he went electric. I was a big Dylan fan since 1964ish, and loved his lyrics and both acoustic and electric music. My remembrance at Newport was, half the audience booed him and half cheered him. I later saw him live in late 1965 at a concert in Ottawa.

Have known Bob many years when I lived in CA and embraced the words he chose as his self-expression. His was almost identical for finding my way in this world. I wouldn’t call me a fan, but I listened intently to his words. Seemed to me we found our way the same way. After all these years, I’ve known him to be a growing soul. 61 yrs he traveled and gave his talents to all, I’d like to see him wind up back home. I believe that’s what he wants as it’s time for him to rest and relax as well as to continue his other hobbies. I will always cherish his thinking and how it brought him to fame. Blessings to this long time friend and may he give some personal time to his hobbies and his home. I know he cherishes all he owns. Take a rest Bob and never give up your privacy! Yes, indeed. Dylan had a powerful impact on many who were just behind him in age; especially the young men in my home state of Minnesota. Dylan gave the youth new ways to think and feel about life. He gave them permission to be themselves, and to drop their straight and narrow roles as they were beginning to figure out who they were as young men.

In a world of easy superlatives, Bob Dylan actually is a genius. Not just because of his originality. And not just because his chosen melodies - including the earliest ones which, like most folk tunes were borrowed - perfectly complement the words at the heart of his greatness. Ah yes - those beautiful words... a seamless 'less is more' weave of traditional American Blues/Country/R & R vernacular with elegant ENGLISH English...graphic, emotional, memorable and discreetly punctuated by implicit humour and dry wit 'anyone with any sense had already left town...' As a poet alone, Bob Dylan earns his Nobel Prize for Literature. A formidable combination of talent, imagination and education. But Genius? Yes. The essentials of genius include unswerving self-belief and exclusive commitment to the work - whether you're Isaac Newton, Pablo Picasso - or Bob Dylan.

Happy 83 rd Birth Day Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan shaped America and world culture before the Beatles did. Bob Dylan totally influenced the Beatles. Bob Dylan was the very first artist to turn the Beatles on to grass and acid. Bob Dylan influenced the Beatles song writing even. If Bob Dylan had of never happened the Beatles would of never happened, Nor would have the Byrd's, The Rolling Stones, Peter Paul and Mary, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Who, Joan Baez, Neil Young, John Denver and a whole slew of other recording artist.Bob Dylan grabbed the world by it's balls way back in 1961 and that's all very obvious here in May 2024. 62 years later. WOW!… Bob Dylan ( Robert Zimmerman ) What a Saint.

Bravo. The doco is brilliant. I grew up greatly influenced by Dylan and serious literature and music...Staying with literature and music, there is a band that got me excited some three years ago, whom I belatedly discovered. That is a Duth band called The Gthering. The highlight of their creative years were when they had the singer Anneke van Giesgergen, between 1995 and 2007, when she left to become a mother and start a soo career. Together they wrote and recorded some amazingly literary songs. (In English, of cource.) Check out some live recordings recordings from 1996, 2005 and w007. If you read you will be in the company of musicians who also read. And the music is like nothing you have ever heard before.

Dylan evolved because he wasn't willing to live in a hole in the ground. Changes - or as Butterfield sang, "On a Sunday afternoon, we'd get high and watch the moon, up in the pale blue sky, it looked just like the good lord's eye". (Blind Leading The Blind).

Bob Dylan was one of the most incredible geniuses going. Especially for us aware back in the 60s and 70s. You must be a child. If we have to explain Dylan you guys would never get it. His voice back in the day was only Bob Dylan a one of a kind guy. He was much respected

@@river4462 I have acknowledged his greatness in my post, but being a great poet and songwriter doesn't automatically translate into also being a good singer or, as another viewer has rightly pointed out, a good harmonica player. It's one thing to read his great lyrics, but for someone with a developed ear to listen to him attempting to sing them...

  • @river4462

@@groovermctoober4508 my point is that Dylan was great in the eyes and ears of so many. His singing was what we Dylan fans came to expect. His voice was what made Dylan the artist he was. 💖😎🌺 different opinions but the opinions of young people that are just now listening to Dylan over the past few years and feel this way about his not being able to sing is really lame. Not everyone was a fan. And that is most definitely to be expected. I have forgotten of the many bands and singers all genres, who truly suck and there are plenty that do not know what "singing" is. I loved Dylan because of his one of a kind voice. He will be missed one day.
