    I agree with studying. I hate people say "you shouldn't have to study, it's common sense questions." I think everyone learns differently. There is nothing wrong with studying. Some people ace test without studying and some need to study.

    The test only had "common sense questions" if you can't answer more difficult than that. The computerized version of the ASVAB is an adaptive test, meaning it gets more difficult the better you're doing. It also means it gets easier the worse you're doing. Specific sub categories vary from branch to branch, but your overall ASVAB score is a percentile score (1-99). I took the ASVAB last week and scored 98 (the auto/shop section dragged me down from a 99 😭). It honestly isn't a test you can study much for unless you're willing to study every possible concept the test can throw at you. Nevertheless I still strongly recommend studying, just don't expect studying to move your score from a 30 to an 80. Depending on how hard you study, it seems more realistic that it would increase scores somewhere in the ballpark of 15 points (as a reminder this is only my opinion based off of the contents of the test from when I took it).

    I don't get it because GT score shows the combined scores of your VE and AR scores which mine were 54 and 54 which equals 108 which is my actual GT but EL from the way it's shown on that website is the combined scores from GS, AR, MK and EL. My 4 scores combined equal to over 200 which is 90 points above the minimum. I'm not that smart. They calculate your line scores differently. I'm not sure how but they do.

    I'm a navy sea cadet and I plan on joining the navy (obviously) I'm an E-4 in sea cadets and I'm really good at PT and shit like that, the only thing that worries me is math and anything like that's not related to history or English, I'm sooper spooked but I have 2 more years to prepare myself, any advice? I'm really fucking dumb when it comes to anything SCHOOL lmao, I've been to Great Lakes for a 9 days boot camp and I passed with flying colors so I'm not worried about boot camp at all, it's The asvab that scares me, and I heard you have to get like a 50 to be in the navy. If I don't get high enough I'll probably join the army and go into artillery or infantry or something.

    I'm a bit confused as to how enlisting works, I'm considering joining because I have already completed a year of college but I can't afford to complete my degree, I'm receiving no financial aid and no one in my family has a stable enough credit score to co sign on a loan, I also have 20k of loan debt I accumulated for the one year of school... my goal is to attend medical school, I just can't get there financially, how would the military get me on the path I want to be on? My only other option to continue school is to pursue my education in a country with free tuition.

    If you pass this next time you take the ASVAB, that's it! You won't need to take it another time. Only the last score of the ASVAB is retained. The new score will replace the old score. So make sure you study and practice doing those practice tests! It's really a matter of doing it over and over again. You get more familiar and comfortable with the material. You can do it! Good Luck!

    hey I have a test in 3 days but I have been really busy with school because I am graduating this year and didn't really have time to study, also if i fail this test I have to wait 6 month, My dad is always pressuring me to take the test and I keep failing, If I fail this test I will disappoint everyone on my family. I really don't know what to do.

  • @officercandidate5415

    @officercandidate5415

    7 жыл бұрын

    I can understand, I've been in a similar position. But don't worry! Relax. Breathe. That's the first thing. Do not over-psych yourself! The pressure from the family can be overwhelming. This test is the gateway to the military so it could seem daunting but it isn't. Take the test when YOU feel ready to take it. This is a career move for YOU. It's not anyone else's. Who's going to go to boot camp/basic training? Them or you? It is better that you take 3 weeks to study for it well and then take the test as opposed to taking the test, failing, waiting 6 months, and feeling like a failure because you disappointed your peers (which is ironic because they pushed you in that predicament). Go to your local public library and find an ASVAB prep test book. Study it, and take ALL of the exercises and practice tests that are in the book. That's what I did. All it takes is practice! Good Luck!

    I'm going to be making my military contract soon, but I need to know about my ASVAB score. I don't remember exactly how long ago I took the test, it was in school and mandatory, how long does the test score hold? Also, I believe I received a 59, what kind of options would I be left out of if I decided to carry on with just my 59?

  • @officercandidate5415

    @officercandidate5415

    7 жыл бұрын

    To answer your question, you would need to know the grades of each subtest (depending on the year you took the ASVAB, you will have either a total of 10 or 11 subtests). Only 4 of those subtest grades make up your ASVAB score. The other subtests were not used to calculate your ASVAB but are needed to see if you qualify for specific MOS's. I would say that 59 is a good enough grade that will qualify you for a good amount of MOS's. If you have a specific MOS in mind, ask your recruiter to see if your ASVAB score qualifies you for that MOS (Or you can request the full list of subtest results so that you could see which MOS you qualify for). If it does, Good To GO! If it doesn't, you will have to take the ASVAB again. In the event that you have to take it over again, I recommend that you study for it! (Hopefully you wont have to!) Good Luck!

    I think that will help! It's a great idea! The best thing is really to do as many questions as possible. The more practice you get, the more familiar you will be with the test questions. You'll end up recognizing the math problem from a previous math problem you have already done and apply the same technique to solve it.

They never take away those 2 sheets of papers from you during the test. Once you're done with the ASVAB, they make you turn them in and they give you your ASVAB score.

    Go on the website I showed in the video and look for the Navy version of the ASVAB grades needed for each MOS. Find the line scores you need to become a corpsman and study only those subjects. Make sure to study though. Recruiters always tell applicants to just take the test without studying for it. They are not looking out for your best interest by doing that. They are only looking for you to get a qualifying score to enlist you as fast as possible. Good Luck!

    Hi, I wasn't planning on making a video about MEPS but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks! Just as some pointers though... Don't do ANY drugs and don't drink ANY alcohol before going to MEPS. That would set the wrong image. This is a carreer move and they want you to be serious about it. They will take a urine sample and blood sample. Also, they will ask you about your medical past. They only want to know about the injuries that still have an impact on you and affect your physical perfomance.

    The best thing to do is practice doing multiplications and divisions by hand when doing practice math exercises. The more you practice those math exercises the faster you get. Eventually, you start recognizing what type of problem it is after having done similar ones and you'll have a better idea on how to solve it.

    I recommend going to OCS. But talk to your recruiter now if you want to go as an officer because it takes much longer than enlisting (the next board is on June 1st 2017). It's a good idea to establish a good relationship with your recruiter early on. • You have to get a minimum of 3 letters of recommendation from past employers or professors (maximum 6 letters of recommendation) • Write a 1 page essay on "Why you want to be an officer?" • Take a full body professional picture (in a suit) and print an 8"x10" photo • Be submitted to the board and get selected. After that they give you your ship-off date. It is great leadership training and puts you in a position o f command. The other route is to enlist and not deal with any of the things listed above (but it's easier than you think to get all of the items above done). When you enlist with a bachelor's degree, you will automatically be promoted to the rank of E-4 ("Specialist" in the Army), which is the highest of the enlisted ranks. After 24 months of active duty service, you can drop a "Green to Gold" packet (OCS Packet) to apply for OCS. Your letters of recommendation will then come from all of your "higher-ups" who will recommend you to the OCS board selection team. At that point, you will become an officer with 2 years of experience which means higher pay than a new officer with no prior experience. This route improves your chances to become an officer but takes those 24 months of service first. On the other hand, if you go to the board from being a civilian and get selected, you will start at a higher pay (O-1 pay right off the bat as opposed to E-4 pay) and maybe be promotable to O-2 after 24 months of being an O-1. My personal recommendation depends on how old you are. If you are 25 years old or less, I would enlist and then drop a "Green to Gold" packet because you will gain valuable experience from being enlisted first. If you are over 25 years old, you have gained civilian workforce experience which could improve your chances at getting selected at the board. I hope this helps! Good Luck!

    No, you do not need to know every word in the dictionary. If you practice the word knowledge section in an ASVAB prep test book, many of those words are one there. But there will be some that won't. It's a hit or miss. I memorized probably around 20 words I didn't know before taking the test.
