ASUS Zephyrus G14 (2022) Review - The Best Laptop?
Ғылым және технология
Review of the 2022 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. They completely changed the design for the better and it uses the new Ryzen 6000 series cpu. It's a much better gaming laptop, finally has a webcam and the battery life is amazing. But it's not perfect and theres a few things to watch out for!

I got the 2021 G14 for $1200 and on a no sales tax day on my state, it was an absolute steal. I feel like the 2022 version is going to have a decent price hike, so I'm glad I got mine when I did, but I have to admit the new model has a slightly cleaner looking design.

Thanks alot for the nice review, I am waiting for the G15 2022 review before making the final purchase decision 😁
Great review as always! I wish though that Asus would send more reviewers the model which will probably be more common - the 6900HS with 6700S GPU and 16(8+8)GB RAM - like the US Best Buy config. That's the one I'm interested to hear about. What's the performance difference between the 6700S and 6800S GPUs, I haven't seen any reviews on that so far. I get why companies want to send out their flagship configs, but at $2499 vs $1649, the model most reviewers are getting is not what most people will probably buy. But that's not on you - you did a great review as always! I guess I'll have to wait until more people get their hands on the cheaper 6700S model.

Here it says 6800S is 30-40% better than 3060, so 6700S can't be $400 better than 3060. Yes display is better on the newer one.
I have the 2021 model, such an amazing laptop. The best one yet I had, will certainly stay on the G14 line for my next laptop too.
Those temps are in line with most of what I see in competitor products. Ran a test on the new Blade 14 and I was also getting temps in the 90s.
I hoped to catch this video in the notifications but I missed by a couple hours. (That’s just me saying I’ve been WAITING!!!!! man) Let’s GOOOO!!!!
Those are some very nice improvements. It's like they actually listen to the customers. It seems quite expensive though for the specs it has.
Honestly, I was expecting a bigger bump in performance but looking at how much of a beast the 2021 model was I wasn’t surprised. Looks great, but all the g14s can pull off some major performance.

I have the first generation with a GTX 1650 and Ryzen 4000 series and have been using it since I purchased it on release. This seems to cater to a lot of the improvements I would like to see in an upgrade. Notably the better screen as mine often seems flat and uninteresting if still decent, moving the speakers up to the top since mine got gunky after a while, and the improved bottom portion of the screen in both the contact to the table but also just the reduced bezel. The performance improvements interest me and I would like to game a bit better than my current 1650, but I share your concerns in the thermals department.
Will we be getting a blade 14 or 15 review please? I'm dying to see your full on review for those 2 because i want to decide whether to buy an S8 Ultra Tablet or Blade 14/15. Gonna have to make a decision until the 24th of Feb because a really good deal for the S8 ultra runs out on that day. PLEASE MATTHEW I BEG YOU!!!
Awesome video! When it will available in india?
How would this be for video editing? I've seen people recommending the RTX GPUs for video editing as the hardware acceleration works with CUDA (and Optix for 3D/VFX), what do you think of these AMD GPUs?
To me it looks like a decent upgrade over previous gen G14, which already was IMHO very well rounded offer for the money. This ones been upgraded where it counts for me - display(aspect ratio, brightness), webcam, 180 degree hinge, larger touchpad, slight visual design tweaks, whats not to love? Im eager to see what good will they bring to its next update in 2023/2024! 4K, MiniLED/OLED? USB-C charging only(with USB-C getting through more power for charging)?

does this still measure 14" diagonally with the new aspect ratio? or is it slightly more?

What do you think about the lower spec version? The one with a 6700 at around $1650? Is that a better value or is it 6800 or bust
To be clear - are you saying that under normal gaming, we'd see about 5dB less when using, say, performance mode? So 42dB instead of your 47dB? If so, that's super impressive (hot components aside...)
It's great that 14 inch gaming laptops are getting more and more competitive to thin and light 15 inch gaming laptops (still can't compete with the likes of the ge76 etc.) Long gone are the days where gamers have to lug around a suitcase sized laptop to game on the go for outstanding performance

As this laptop has very BIG and a lot of air intakes all through it's bottom chassis, I guess a nice cooling pad can greatly help cooling it, especially cooling components that the normal internal fans cant cool (like the ssd or ram). Some laptops have solid bottoms without intakes or very little intakes that make cooling pads useless, but this G14 seems to have a lot of intakes to actually benefit from a cooling pad

I recently bought the 2022 version with the rx 6700s version for $1499 which only comes with 8gb ram on board and 8gb sodimm, but I bought a 32gig stick of ram for $170 and put it in the sodimm slot so now I have 40gigs of ram, which I need for virtualization. The problem with the temps were easy to solve, I just use manual mode to configure the cpu power and fan curve whenever doing anything intensive, and I use silent mode with turbo boost disabled (through some regedit tweaks) when doing light browsing or office tasks. Works well for me and is a beautiful laptop packing power in a small package.

Cinebench is extreme stress test. No laptop with flagship specs comes below 95/95 degrees in cinebench test. It was an uninformed rant in the video.
I got my full-spec dark grey (practically black) G14 last week. All I have done with it so far is turn it on, essentially. Already, though, I don't like the keyboard backlighting or the keyboard font. A lot more light bleeds around the keys than comes through the letters on the keys. The ROG gamer font on the keys takes getting used to - I find it distracting. Using a trackpad without buttons is a new experience for me, and I'll need to learn the tricks. And the two AMD stickers were poorly aligned. Which I wouldn't mention if Matthew didn't make a fuss about it.
Any idea when you or your colleagues can review a 2022 G15?
it's also conerning if you think about it there is a vapor chamber this year and internals get as hot as 95 degrees, one could argue they pushed chips to the limits bcos of the vapor chamber, but is that really the case? i just think these cheaps are not made the same way to be competitive without it

Very curious about more detailed battery tests on this one as well as the actual display brightness. Really hope down the line some reviewers look at the model most ppl will end up with which is the lower priced 1080p model.
Does anyone know when is this going to be released?
Can you test the gaming performance on battery to test the new RDNA2 APU
how does the keyboard and the entire white body of the laptop age? does it start to get yellowish or dirty after long usage?
Very nice design and display
I'm going to get the 2022 because I need the webcam for college. I tried this out at Best Buy and the trackpad is hands-down the *best touchpad* I've ever used, even compared to macbooks. I'm a CS major, so I don't actually need something this powerful, but I'm hoping to take some of the optional game-design classes which use unreal engine. I wish they had an Nvidia version, I would love to get my hands on the tensor cores for AI learning. I love the agressive white design, but it's a little too gamer-ie so I'm going to get a skin for the lid (also protects it from scratches and discoloration). I'm still considering the ROG x13, but I may end up getting an iPad for note-taking instead.
