Just purchased one of these as an upgrade from a MSI Apache Pro 1070. And I gotta say it’s a beast. I seen people say it’s noisy but compared to my old MSI it’s really quiet, and set to silent mode it still plays cyberpunk, CODWZ and Valhalla at 60+FPS. Doesn’t appear to be throttling (a problem I had with the MSI even with fans on full and after remount the coolers with liquid metal). Sound quality is great for a laptop too. I had a issue with one of the speakers buzzing occasionally, took the cover off and found that the speakers are mounted on rubber washers, I just put some sticky-back foam pads on them and that solved it. Overall though it’s an ace laptop.

Just needs a better cooling system like the new Alienware m17. That thing has some insane cooling for a laptop

Just picked up the Scar 17 in the UK for under £2300. My last laptop lasted a decade. I hopefully this will last a long time too. Nice insight, really appreciate it.

from what I've researched both the scar 15 and 17 have the same exact specs, the 17 is just larger and has a metal cover. If you don't need a slightly larger screen and don't mind your trackpad doubling as a numpad, consider getting a 15 to get a better price.

Fantastic review thank you I plan to get the ROG SCAR 17 to replace my ROG STRIX 15 that died a horrible death. Unfortunately it's gonna take me a while to save money to do so.

The "RAM" you say you only use about half of in CoD is the VRAM, the RAM on the GPU which is 16gb on 3080 strix, not the system RAM. But i might get you wrong (what you showed in the video might not be what you were talking about at 7:33). But it's always good to have some headroom when it comes to RAM;)

I've bought 2 of these now and each one has really bad screen bleed all over the monitor. Didn't you notice this on the one you reviewed? It seems to be a design flaw, as it has appeared in 2 seperate laptops for me. Unless I'm just the unluckiest person in the world?

I just ordered this one days ago. Strix Scar with 3080 and QHD.

Fab review for novices like myself. I’ve just ordered the G17 Ryzen 9, 3070 RTX, 16GB, 165hz here in the U.K. it’s £1700 for the 300hz model £1900 (currently out of stock here. It’s for my mad gaming daughters birthday. ☺️ These laptops with the better specs are hard to get apparently it’s the graphic card supply causing delays. As soon as they launch the laptops on the ASUS store they sell out within days! 😵‍💫

@@TheChillDeadpool My daughter loves it. I seen a 15” version in Costco 2 weeks ago (don’t know what the US version is called if you’re American) decent specs & great price £1100. Got her the Gladius 3 mouse as well syncs up great with the lighting on her laptop. Hope you can save up and get it soon, pandemic boredom n all 🙄

Blimey mate, I am currently looking to get this laptop and can't believe they cosy 1700 quid, before there's one currently on Amazon for 1400 quid, I'm still shocked as to why it's that cheap as the 3060 version the G15 are going for more and yet the G17 3070 1TB is going for just 1400 quid. Only problem I have to wait till pay day to get me one. It's either the g17 or the Legion 7 for 1650

Hello! Do you still have the ROG Strix Scar 17 G17 ? I have the G733 with RTX 3080 and made some changes to the registry that made my USB-C not work for external displays. If you do, I'd like a copy of the registry file to compare to mine.

Might not see this but you should review the zephyrus duo 15 se if you like both the scar 15 and 17

Maybe your resource about CPU & GPU temp. is for normal desktop not for laptop. Because the laptop CPU 85-90°C is very normal. GPU i'm not sure but for RTX3000 series max temp can up to 92-4°C if I'm right so I think 86°C is normal. Hopefully

I want to ask, how do you get it to such low temps on the highest graphics rtx dlss and everything? I put my settings on like mid and everything heats up regardless, and if I up the settings nothing changes only the fps but the laptop itself is still like 96 CPU and 86 GPU and I have the scar 17 but with 10gb VRAM 165Hz and 64 ram, everything else is the same like CPU GPU resolution everything. So how do you have it at such low temps? And are my temps too high for a laptop?

Just bought the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 for my Pops. $4,800 Canadian. This computer is a beast. He's big on the Konami football games. The new E Football (They are no longer calling it PES) is coming in three months, using the Unreal Engine 5. FIFA is going to lose a lot of customers this year and the next.

If you want a lighter one and a cheaper one get the g15 as it’s 15.6inch screen. If you want a gaming laptop that usually stays at home and want a big screen + good refresh rate you should get the g17 through the g17 is a little more money.

They have similar specs the zephyrus focuses more on a thinner body, in my opinion more prone to over heat

Hi Aditya. Krai's right on this one, the battery drains quite fast in Performance mode. You can even use turbo mode without it being plugged in. So yeah, like most gaming laptops, expect to keep this bad boy plugged in when using 🙏🏻

360hz isn’t really worth it currently as there are just not enough games that can have that kind of refresh rate. It’s cool to have through to flex on your friends lol

KEYSTONE WARNING! Do not "bind" your account to the keystone (the small, red, magnetic, side dongle) unless 1) you'll never want to unbind it, and 2) you don't mind it sending information back to Asus every time it's plugged in or the PC is booted. Asus tech support said the only way to unbind the account is to factory reset the PC and give it a different name--as if that's a viable option. My keystone is sitting in it holster pinned to the wall as an ornament, for now, until Asus decides to release us from its tyranny. 🤨
