Big boss looks badass with the leather jacket. I'll freak out if he says "I'll be back or ill reassemble it". Plus his thumbs up at the end was almost like at the end of terminator 2.
If you made a Northbridge Fix shirt that said "What the Flux?" I would buy it.
Special thanks to ASUS. We wouldn't be able to watch these videos if they didn't make such "quality" devices. Keep it up ASUS..

Hello. I just wanted to say your component level repair is awesome, your understanding of this as well, I wish every repair shop was like this! Keep up!
Great watching you jump in and fix this board, explaining as you go..a real pro...thanks! John
That "what the flux" made me LOLing thank you and Ramadan Mubarak ❤❤
You have a very professional and well run business, thank you for the upload! Wish you all the best!
I watch every single video from your Channel..makes me sad that i had to leave my school just becouse i couldnt make advanced math and phisics, i was studing electronics, but on the other matters i was a 18/20 student, study how every single of those component work, and what they do.. noone here in Portugal does a job likes yours, congratulations, youre a master! Wonder how much a repair like this costs?
Watching your brilliant board/trace repairs, i successfully repaired a PS4 Pro "lifted" power cable socket back onto the mainboard. My soldering skills i would class are spot on, so i wasn't put off by putting the lifted socket back in place. The power supplies cable socket on the mainboard came clean off including ALL the solder pads whilst i was giving the console a much needed deep clean out (without even much effort trying to ease the cable free). I scratched off the masking close to where the "GND" pads had lifted, then soldered in place and i ran 4x tiny lengths of 28 AWG gauge Kaynar wire from the boards trace lines. The 2x "GND" points made the socket nice and firm and didn't budge an inch whilst soldering the 4x socket pins to their trace line repair points. Alex, your videos are really educational and i for one have benefitted from following your uploads. People like yourself really do help others out who maybe fresh out of ideas. Thank you my friend and i so look forward to more of your uploads. :) :) :)
You checked ☑️ all the boxes of professionalism 👍🏽
your setup is sick. Your work speaks for itself.
Pleasure to watch !! I have connection to this trade line but such a smart people you are. Hats off
I had an Asus ROG laptop preordered since Feb. Seeing you work on all those similar models I decided to go with a different brand. Thanks for always being an educator and inspiring others! May good fortune always find you because of your sincere and abundant generosity.

Thanks for the steady stream of cool videos. These always help me decompress after a long day at work.
Holly heck my OCD was going crazy when the cap was put on crooked. Thank you for fixing it. Love your videos North Ridge Fix.
I fix boilers for a living so I totally get it when you say you know from experience. When you've done something for so long, often you just know what to look for and what to expect. 👍
I confirm that ASUS laptops break very easily. Years ago I had one which featured a known bugged sound card. Just by plugging headphones into it would cause the plug sensor to fail leaving the laptop in ‘headphone plugged in’ mode or ‘headphone unplugged’ mode, all the time. I had the interface swapped three times. Then I realised it was a known issue. I spoke with ASUs and told them I was not willing to pay for shipping insurance (the shipping under warranty was not insured so it was at my risk…) and that I wanted a permanent fix. ‘All we can do is to replace it again’. That was my last Asus item I purchased.
I don`t get tire of watching this videos man....Big boss is the men!!
i’ve noticed there is usually a provision for another Cap close to the cap that gets shorted and i’m thinking adding another Cap close to the damaged one after replacement will ease the burden on the single cap saving it for shorting in the future
The work you do is high quality! It's fun to watch. Thanks for the frequent posts 🙂
my man you are SO GOOD at your craft and fixing ASUS ROG's. ASUS should get in contact with you and make you an authorized repairer and make all parts available to you with schematics and wiring diagrams.
great fluxing job alex a pleasure to watch ..great to see big boss awesome my friend..
FROM country NEPAL .thanks a lot for making my technician carrier more easy and comfortable
you are awesome buying all my first equipment i did my research and im looking forward to working on microsoldering hope your having a good day
I wonder.... always when an mlcc cap is shorted the pcb location reveals room for another mlcc cap. From theory two caps parallel devide the inrush current and ripple current this should in theory extend the lifetime of the cap. So I wonder if the laptop manufacturers cut down cost by eliminating one of the two caps. It could also be that for instance they designed two 4.7uF caps and replaced it by one 10uF. Still laptops should last five years 24/7. Great job again Alex, good for the environment repairing instead of replacing.
Excellent video Alex. Looking forward to the next one....cheers
You guys are pro the way you explain step by step is awesome .
Hey, so i found your channel while looking for a way to repair my asus GL551JM, one day it simply I turned off and it wouldn't power on in any circunstance, so after a few hours it would be back ON, until one day it never got on again, and since then i try to repair by myself, I've learn alot with your videos and hopefully I will be able to fix it this year
Dang! That was a great rescue for this laptop! The owner will be happy :)
جزاك الله خيرا ونفع بكم وبارك فيكم

lovely bit of work,thanks
Is “Big Boss” Mr. Burns? That is the question… Lol 😂 Alex, you’re amazing, and Big boss too. Always nice to watch you guys, even though I’m not in your field of work and I don’t understand anything about hardware stuff. It’s mesmerizing to watch you guys.
You and Big Boss are The Best. Thanks.
Best quick repair in youtube
Nice work on the destruction you had to work on.
Nice work, great. Also a good work. Disassembling is a hard work too, sometimes..great work bigboss. thank you for the video. Greets
I am from pakistan and i see your work for learning you do a great job and there is a lot to learn on your channel thank you very much for that
Everyone needs BIG BOSS behind the scenes 👍. The pros PRO.
Amazing job!
My old ROG from 2010 never failed but it would overheat all the time. I'm pretty sure the overheating and subsequent throttling all the time put a lot of stress on the components. I took the bottem shield off, elevated it, put a laptop cooler under it. It works OK to this day. It currently sits on a shelf with other old laptops. I hope to resurrect it some day as some kind of frankenstein monster briefcase build tho.

You're one of the electronic Gods in my universe. Thank you so much for all the knowledge. What the flux.......... LOL!
good job mate.
Nice video, I liked how you connected all three ground pins for the battery. Easy shorted capacitor. But since I am a computer scientist/engineer, I wonder if some of your words were meant as an insult.
I say it might be a mess but with your skill "It's Clean and Neat"
Hello sir thank you for amazing videos , I just wanted to know how did you know where the data and other pin would be connected when you added jumper pad on those two pins, I know you have immense experience but for knowledge purposes if you could explain it thank you so much again !!!
What The Flux needs to be on a T Shirt, I will buy one.
Great video as usual ! , but how can you know the value of that capasitor to replace it ?
Really nice work
Nice job.
Very nice video one's again I wish one day I be able to do what u do
Awesome job bro keep rocking bro 👍👍👍
Awesome as always :)

Nice Sunday Special Repair
You are the best
Watching this video on a laptop that looks a lot like this one, kinda makes me nervous. At least I know what to be careful for when I inevitably have to replace the battery after it's spent the last 2 yeas suffering from being plugged in all of the time.
I see one of ur multimeater probe tips crooked, what the amtech fux , ha ha ha ha. Alex u r not better, u r the BEST

Same, G531GV owner here, laptop's been doing terribly in terms of temperature as well, I am so fucking scared and I feel so bad for slamming 1500$ on a laptop this bad... Right now I'd lean on getting a Lenovo Legion instead...
WTF (WHAT THE FLUX) 😅😅 very very sincere reaction 😂
Man, I wish I lived where you are so I could get my laptop fixed, all my school stuffs on it and I don't trust anyone locally really to fix it. :( Cool videos tho, think I'll stick around and watch.
this guy rocks .... :)
got an asus rog 512du that wont power on or charge, took it apart and with testing found a shorted mosfet, so might order some parts off you soon, pretty sure its a cap or a few, got q few zones that short, but i do not have a thermal imager, figured might try the aerosol can upside down lol
Nice Jacket Mr. Big Boss 😎
Thx bro
where youve been sir..its been 8 days from your last posted video
What the Flux,, good job 🤪
Just started following you brother I haven't a clue about electronics or using soldering equipment. Stuff like checking for shorts and using tools. How do you get into this?
Why don't you use macro lens for thermal camera?
Now I wonder if these shorted caps are actually just bad from the factory or if something from the power delivery results in caps going bad.
Great repairs, and a sense of humor. "crooked scientists" :) :).
Hahahahahaha. That’s a new “t” slogan for your merch Alex. What the amtech flux lmfao. That dude deserves a bonus lol.
Hi where can we buy or get your equipment like the soldering tips? Thanks
I’ve been trying to post on your forum. But I keep getting errors. Have you ever worked on an original psone? If not could you? Thanks for great video’s!
Hi Ramadan Karim w b yn3ad 3likom
How do you hold down the replacement pads? You put the green mask on the strip and as it is over the strip it is held in place. The pad is not held. I ask as I tried to hold pads under a gpu and even with green mask under and around the pads, they will not stay! Thanks for your help. Thanks for the videos.
hi sir. would you please say how much microfarad are these caps which burnt or short you replace them?!! And are them all the same or diffrence?!! thanks a lot. good luck.
you missed the mounting pad thats still intact on the left
hi, thank u alot for ur videos really doing great. pls i did like to ask, in one of ur videos, said u had a formal document that u customer signs to protect u against, paying back for device that may no work as Doctors issue to patient. pls i did like to ask for a sample.... thank u
Diode mode is very useful
What temp and air speed do you use
Thank gawd I didn't choose an Asus when shopping for a high-end laptop. I needed something powerful for graphics while uninterested in gaming. I'm pleased with my loaded Dell XPS 9710 so far. And no, I'm not happy with the price I paid for it.

one thing i never understand, mostly by detecting through thermal camera it is reveals that often capicitor gone short, my question is how come you know the exact value of the capicitor to be placed there, since in this video you didnt grab the capicitor from the doner board, and as the capicitor has already been shorted therefore we cant get its exact value.... your guidance is solicited.

I believe Alex is quite well versed in these caps as he has repaired more than his fair share lol
Failed ASUS gaming laptop again? Well it's time to consider ASUS brand as premium line. MOSFETs failed, SMD caps failed every time. They have issue of designing MOSFETs power rails or just using cheap MOSFETs? Something is seriously happening with ASUS premium laptops. Why don't people just move to MSI for same price? MSI offers better build quality and component design. I have been using MSI for over 5 years and it's still running like new. I only need to replace thermal paste every year. I have used ASUS gaming laptops too. But they don't last like MSI. Failed a lot and now I abandoned ASUS brand. I wish people make right brand choice!
