If you need for video editing RAM and CPU are important. You're going to need 16gb+ and at least a i7-4790K, 4930K would be the best. Go with a GTX760+ for the GPU. The new GTX 970 is cheap and super powerful.

I think its best if you ask on ROG FB page. It's generally up to each country what boards they market etc.

Yes you can add in your own and have the onboard disabled.

Thanks for the preview! Really looking forward to the performance. There's an offer here to get this bundled with a Kingston 120GB SSD for the same price as the MoBo without the SSD! Don't know if it's worth it over Gigabyte and MSI Gaming 5. Questions: - How much worse is the VRM compared the to the Hero? What's the difference in alloy and BlackWing? Would I notice a difference if I tried to do some basic overclocking? - Do I really need a SATA Express? There are cheaper boards that offer it. - Also what does the price premium offer me compared to Gigabyte and MSI Gaming 5 boards? Physical buttons on the board don't count. It's hidden in the case anyway! It's a shame though that there are no more USB's on the back panel. I would gladly get two more USB ports than some gimmicky KeyBot or Audio buttons on the keyboard that I would never use instead of software.

The full review is now up by the way :) Re: OC You wouldn't notice any difference for basic overclocking. It's likely only to affect extreme scenarios. Re: SATA Express 1) This board doesn't have SATA Express. 2) There are no SATA Express drives currently on the market, nor scheduled to be for some time. 3) The benefits of higher data bandwidth are generally limited to only a few applications. To sum up: no, you don't need to have it currently and are unlikely to in the near future unless you keep your system on the bleeding edge. Re: Benefits If I was in the market for a Z97 and didn't want to spend much I would undoubtedly pick this one out of what is available right now. Pretty much everything it offers it does well -- UEFI BIOS, overclocking, innovative features, good software and it performs consistently well. Most of the boards you'll notice perform quite similar, the difference lies in the visual appearance, proprietary features and overclock capabilities. Hope this helps! :)

***** Ok thank you very much! I'm really close to pressing the Buy button. It does seem pretty good and the 120GB bundle makes it a huge value increase over the MSI and GB motherboard for only 20€ more in price. I read your review right when it came out and it's really good, thank you for that too! I'll think about it a little more because without the SSD I wouldn't actually even consider this Asus over MSI or GB. I hope the quality of VRM isn't worse than on the GB.

Asus VII RANGER supports 32GB DDR3 RAM at 3200Mhz.. So upgrade you're ram and buy the Ranger!

So .. Just for EU (no surveillance law apply for NSA) - Keybot aka Keylogger, and Gamefirst III / LANGuard listening to all your network packages =) I'm gonna buy one ! ty for review btw

the board is labeled 1150. the processor you are reffering to is as well. always look for the labels on the product sites.

Just got a ranger and a i7 4790k, I can recommend a coolermaster evo 212, 29c idle, 69 4.4ghz, 63c 4ghz at 100% using prime for 1 hr in 24c room with only 2 case fans installed running at 40% rpm also only one 600rpm fan on cooler at the moment case ft02

learn your shit man, if you are running at 69C at 4.4mhz then you have done some pretty astonashing underclocking, and last time i checked there wasnt a 470k and im amaazed that you even got it down to 4mhz. and also the fact that you got the fan down to 6rpm is even more amazing!

No point in upgrading from Sandy Bridge though. Boards are getting nicer and nicer, but the actual Intel chips are nothing spectacular from Sandy Bridge on. Only thing is more energy efficiency and higher temps...

DO you use your computer full blast at full voltage 365.25 days a year if so then there is something wrong with you

Uh, deity 93.. The 10k hours rating is very good. It means it can run a solid 10k hours usually at over 100C. You should never hit temps like that even under heavy load so the board should last many, many years.

Get the VII hero instead,the ranger only uses 4 phases from the PWM and doubler.Also the chokes are those inferior sabertooth z97 ones,just no good.The hero however is 8 phases from PWM and uses the good inductors.
