Asus M16 - The Cost of Using Intel...

My review of Asus ROG M16. Reasonably priced and better performing than the G15 but it comes at a cost.

Wish they could do an AMD with the screen, TB4 and PD, and a webcam. RIght now, AMD seems to be more efficient in terms of thermal and power demand resulting in longer battery life as well.

Someone on the Zephyrus G15 subreddit manage to buy an M16 display and install it in his G15. Still working on getting the webcam working though...
I bought the g15 couple of month ago. I had an awful beginning experience with asus world: serious bleeding due to bent panel, bios problems, scratched display due to metal framing of the keyboard hitting the screen while the laptop was closed. A part from these and some other problems, that actually stressed me out seriously, and that i will have to repair contacting customer service, the unit is awsome. I have the 5800H + 3060, so the cheapest among the ones mounting last generation CPU and GPU. I can ensure that FPS obtained on HZD and every other game in the list using the i9 3060 are perfectly comparable to the ones i obtain with my unit. Like litterally i get that FPS playing ULTRA. G15 does not have the camera, so that is an issue: i bought an external webcam for 30 euros (~35 bucks) and i definitely opened my eyes over what actual video quality means. With that low price you can step up the game to a prover level. If you just want to video call and make it quick you can use MyAsus, that lets you use your phone camera as an external camera, linking via hotspot and bluetooth. M16 camera is the usual crappy laptop camera The display is not the brightest, in that case i have to give it to the M16 that har live 450 nits. I never needed more brightness, but headroom is always good. What i don't like about M16 is the absence of the chin. Display aspect ratio becomes odd, you can cover up the lowest portion ov the screen with the laptop body, cause it's lower, and heat vents pump hot air directly on the screen. Plys your head is gonna be a little bit more cramped down, to reach that lower regions. Full screen is something that you can do on laptop that have the screen hinged at the same level of the keyboard, not on these units. Thunderbolt 4 in mine is missing due to amd CPU. That i tought i would never need in my entire life. Now I'm thinking about coming back from study or work and being able to plug a single cable, to turn the unit in a desktop setup. Like external dual monitor with high refresh rate, mouse, keyboard, headphones, speakers, external fast HDD station. That is actually bothering me. A latop is not bound for life, but if you plan to keep this for 6-7 years you neet to thing about this. Fan noise is something real. Like you go to the library and you can turn your G15 to silent mode. On the other had your M16 is not gonna run completely silent, and looking at the graphs, RPM is gonna bother you. Seriously. M16 is not flat, is a little bit thinner on the front, and thicker near the hinges. This would personally bother me and. Also is considerably thicker that M16. I personally would go again with the G15. Also I do some computational Physics at university and multicore performance is something you need to consider. Intel is gonna run hot in that scenario. Like 90 degrees hot. If you are into programmig, computing, symulations and compiling, you need to buy an AMD unit. If you are a professional who uses CAD or videoediting, maybe an intel unit is better suited. I was also very unluky with my first asus encounter. I never had an asus unit. I knew this could happen, and it has beed quite exausting. The battery situation is mental. I easily get 9 hours of screen on with windows mode in armoury and battery save mode in setting. Shut down backlit keyboard and you have all day pc. I would not trade that with and intel chip. Too bad power efficency. I bought the G15 also carried by dave's review, because i really needed a new pwerful pc, that was well built and that i could play on, since i don't have a desktop build. Hope i was informative. If anyone need answers just ask.

ATTENTION TO ALL PEOPLE GOING TO BUY THE M16! What most people aren't talking about is the issue of how this device and the best buy models are getting BRICKED after updates to its BIOS. I personally ordered one and returned it because playing Russian roulette with an expensive system is not a game I could afford. There is thread in reddit which you can find and there are reports of many people who have undergone a BIOS update and in the end were stuck in a boot loop and essentially bricked their devices. To make things worse even the replacement units are affected by this issue. Please don't trust the positive reviews of it. And if you are getting one make sure you are covered under warranty.

Love your channel, buddy. Been subscribed for a while now. I may be able to offer a quick tip to improve presenting tables, though. It's better to make numerical columns adjusted to the right (INCLUDING the column headers). This way, the digits are aligned (just like how you learned to do long multiplication and long division in school) and makes more sense when you're inviting the reader to make numerical comparisons. Hope that helps.

From someone who owns the 2021 i7 3060 version, I can say this thing doesn't really get loud if you're just using it for productivity or studying...barely even makes any noise. It starts making noise only if processing a big download. Even while using somewhat demanding software such as Solidworks or other 3d software it is not that loud. The only time it actually get as loud as I have heard people say it is while gaming, which happens to all gaming laptops. Even though I only bought it cause I could not get the g15 anywhere, I definitely do not regret it.
