Asunción Paraguay: Is it South America's Most Overlooked City?

Not that many tourists place Paraguay or its capital, Asunción on their list of places to visit. Is there a good reason for that? Or are they missing out on experiencing a special place? I'll try to give an answer to those questions in the video.
This could be the most comprehensive look at Asunción on KZread. Check out what this city has to offer!
Music provided by Epidemic Sound.
Having retired in 2023, I now travel full-time, seeing places all around the world. My idea for KZread is to make the videos more about the places and people along the way, than about me. I hope that the experience for you is both entertaining and educational. Perhaps you will come away from my channel with ideas about places you would like to visit or be inspired to forge your own way.
I travel slowly, spending four or five weeks in each destination. Hopefully, that will allow me to go beyond the surface to find the essence of each location. By the end of 2024, I will have visited 14 countries and five of the seven continents. Come along for the journey!

Great head of hair and most people don’t believe that I’m 62. I remember Paraguay from being there almost 30 years ago and what a difference. Mostly good but some not so good. Being born and raised in the NYC area all the congestion is not for me anymore. That made me move about an hour and a half north of NYC to a rural quiet area. I caught the Saint Augustine video and wish I saw it sooner because we stayed there for 10 days in March 2023. Had a great time there and it’s most likely to be a yearly visit. Yes the lower part of Florida is not for us anymore. Is a video of Italy coming soon? Would be great. I noticed the videos from Greece but haven’t had time to watch yet but I will. Through DNA testing two years ago I found out that I’m 25 % Greek. Never knew about that one but very proud to tell everyone I’m a quarter Greek. I am subscribed and will definitely be watching.

In fact around the year 2012/2013 a circus came on tour and then left abandoned the 8 tigers, and a lion in cages and in poor condition, the zoo and an NGO since then tucked them and took care of them until now. These animals could not be released in their habitat because the circus cut their nails so they remained in the zoo. the lion sadly passed away in 2018 due to a tumor. i think is good that at least they are there finally they had and have some peace after suffering so much in the circus.

If you travel east into the country it becomes Guarani mixed with Spanish. And the regions around La cuidad de la este - they speak Portuguese while many signs are in German. But do not expect people to speak English. It’s just not there.

I must explain that the main causes of the war of triple alliance or war of Paraguay were the geopolitical differences in the XIX century, as the political support of the government of Argentina to a coup d'état in Uruguay during the Uruguayan civil war, the invasion of the Uruguayan territory by the military forces of the ''Empire of Brazil''. The government of Francisco S. Lopez, who had good relations with the legitimate government of Uruguay, rejected this and the unbridled expansionism of Brazil, which also had disputed claims with Paraguay. It would not be correct to frame him simply as the instigator of the war.
