Hi Shane, My comment isn't about your model (which I think you have done a cracking good job on by the way and Can not fault at all) but about the first pic you posted of a Sherbrooke Sherman III. It's actually a Sherman V of a Canadian Artillery regiment. It's a Sherman V OP. A few identifiers are the undercuts in the cast hoods, the radio pot on the front glacis, T62 tracks (Most commonly used on Sherman V's but not exclusively), Some could also argue the early 3 piece transmission but some III's did have them. Also, the 3 antenna's. This is actually a very well known picture in Canadian Armour circles. Keep up the great work mate!!!

I have a question regarding the antennas as you seem more knowledgeable about British/Canadian Shermans than I. Would a Squadron command vehicle have a similar three antenna array ?

That's a lovely bit of work there - and I hope you don't take me for an A-hole rivet counter, but I can't help noticing the positioning of the blanket box. In every picture I've seen, the box lines up with the bottom of the bustle, rather than hanging below it. You can see on that photo of the 13th/18th Hussars tank you showed.

Very nice and to the point mate! You keep teaching us about Shermans and their peculiar minor detail variations, which is really handy. That particular Sherman version is one i never noticed before, so i think my horizon has widened a bit in that field thanks to you. Of course all you did here turned the model into a gem. It looks lovely, one might consider to not paint it, since it illustrates nicely what you did to the kit to achieve this result.

Super glad you enjoy my Sherman ramblings lol Oh mate I've descended down the Sherman rabbit hole of late, and keep finding new details to try to add at the risk of my sanity lol I am considering leaving one of my builds unpainted but I am such a messy builder to get away with it lol Now I'm off to watch your 250 video as I have the same kit!

Cheers mate, i certainly did enjoy it since generic things bore me, but special stuff gets my attention :) Right now i am in the process of building up momentum to start the M7 Priest by Dragon in the next few weeks, or at least i plan something along those lines. I need some Allied stuff for the Alsace liberation project i want to take part in. I could also build two Shermans but i don´t have a vision for the scene i want to build, the Priest is a bit clearer in that regard. That 250 is nice but also a pig in some aspects, i hope you find our review helpful and not too discouraging :D

I am pretty sure I tired to order one not too long ago but never showed up lol The M7 would make an interesting subject to do for a Alsace themed project!

@@longlance67 I know it is proper heresy for me, but i don´t build US armor very often at all, so i might be forgiven a small detour into that topic. Also, that model show next year about the liberation of Alsace is giving me a reason to do so. I just want to be there and in order to do so i have to suffer a bit it seems :D

One wiki page for the Sherbrooke Fusilier Regiment has a story of the CO receiving a squadron's worth of new tanks. He had B and C squadron commanders flip a coin, and B Sqn won the toss. "Rad" was in C squadron, and Caribou was his third mount. I would disagree with piling so many stores on the engine deck. In the Normandy battles, the echelon was not far behind and was able to meet the tanks at hides and harbours. Too much gear would have been an encumbrance, especially when the tankers often evacuated wounded or lifted infantry on the engine decks. Tank Bomb had a shell hit the turret .50-cal and it injured two crewmembers - if the tank is big, that would give the enemy more to sight on and impacts could start fires or direct splinters into the engine.

Awesome stuff mate and I love the history behind the it. I can't wait to see it painted.

The sherman looks fantastic with all the small details and after market bits you added. I'm looking forward to the painting & weathering part. Also, just wanted to point it out, but for me at least, the audio of this video is really quiet and i had to have my audio turned all they way up just to hear you.

I think all the details are beautiful and spot on. With the interest in getting everything perfect, why do modelers not do anything with the lights? Or did they get damaged early on and never work? I picked up the 1/16 jeep kit, and that is one point I'm looking forward to addressing. Thanks for a great video.

Beautiful! I wish tamiya would re-release their firefly. Another sherman I would like to build, if a company would make it is Oddballs sherman from Kelly's Heros!

The Firefly in question is an Asuka Model rebox by Tamiya which is still readily on the market if you are hunting one still. Doing Oddball's Sherman would be so cool. Speaking of movie Shermans I currently working on my rendition of FURY. Which is such a good looking tank in my opinion lol

Very nice build and appreciate the explanations. I have one of these Asuka Shermans in my stash to build. Specifically the Jumbo with some sandbag armor. I am looking forward to the build as I hear these are unique kits. I am curious what you thought of the rubber tracks that came in the kit vs the replacements you added. The Jumbo has the duckbill tracks and I'm on the fence as the rubber tracks in the kit are actually quite nice in comparison to those old school Tamiya rubber tracks. Considering the Fruilmodel replacement but not sure yet.

Thanks mate! super happy with how it turned out! I don't think I will be doing a dio for this Sherman as such but maybe a small vignette base. It will be part of a larger display with Ekins' Firefly and Wittmann's final Tiger

Great video as always mate, I have a question for you, are you able to clean the brush after using mr surfacer or is it a case of use once and bin the brush,?? I've never used it before and wamt to order some and I want to get the correct cleaning solution or cheap brushes for when it arrives, Cheers mate

Thanks mate! As for the Mr.Surfacer and using brushes. I have some old brushes that are frayed that are my primary brushes for applying it. To clean the brushes I use a dedicated bottle of lacquer thinner (in my case a bottle of Mr.Color self levelling thinner) which easily removes the Mr.Surfacer from the brush. hope that helps mate!
