Nice to see Henry feeling good.

My first experience with Astro Tools was their original nutsert riveting tool. After that, I got exposed to a lot of their tools through Garage Journal and South Main Auto. They are legit. A great company and a great bunch of people who are passionate about their tools. They remind me of VIM Tools. Companies that make tools for the tool trucks, don’t do a lot of self promotion, but put great effort into designing and engineering great products, let their products do the talking, and have excellent customer service. I love companies like that.

Some other tools of theirs I’ve bought that I absolutely love are their 1/2” right angle impact, their comfort grip die grinders, their 1/2” pinless swivel impact sockets (affordable alternatives to Matco), their Nano low profile impact sockets (awesome, awesome sets), and their carbide burrs are top notch.

I agree vim is actually a company called durston manufacturing they made alot of great products back in the day I would always see them first when I went to tool shows!

Oops, forgot about my favorite Astro Tool with the possible exception of the right angle impact: their 52SL flexible slim light with wireless magnetic charger. Was reminded because I ordered a second one and it just showed up in the mail lol.

I’ve used the EVERCRAFT slide hammer that comes with the adapter to use the locking pliers and it works great. Not the best brand but got me out of a pinch many times.

I remember first seeing the slide hammer vice grips on ebay 13 years ago thought the looked neat but wasn't impressed how had to unscrew tensioner and screw it in but that astro looks like the answer

I bought the Astro spinning handle torque limiter set. I know Astro rebrands it for Matco but I could not see paying Matco's price.

Good call!!

Weld the seam on the bottom of the locking plier or it opens up and makes you cuss when it fails and smash your knuckles.

I have one very similar to that. Mine was made by Las Vegas Tool

I’ve been happy with every astro tool I have and they’re usually not much more than the generic amazon brands. I’m waiting for their 1/2 ratchet in a 3/8 body to be delivered.

Astro is good middle of the road tools it's not Snap on but it's better HF and Chinese craftsman

Does the slide hammer rod unscrew from the pivot? If so, do you know what thread pitch it is?

I got an email back from Astro customer service; the thread on the slide rod is M12X1.75

No I don't own one but I have been to their shop to work on their lawnmower and they are well made I just have not had the need for one yet but if and when I do I will most likely buy theirs
